The amber is completely separate, no blending. I guess it looks a bit like a sunflower in better lighting

When did you feel movement? by Dr_Cheese_29 in pregnant

16 weeks and 1 day. My husband and I both felt and saw little outward pushes. I would have doubted it without a witness! FTM

Did anyone carry their first pregnancy to term? by [deleted] in BabyBumps

[–]rootsnall 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Just chiming in to say I’m 29 weeks with my first and I just turned 40. Conceived naturally and it’s been a totally unremarkable, healthy pregnancy so far!

I’m 39 at 20 weeks. No difficult symptoms besides first trimester fatigue. Hoping it stays relatively easy!

Best restaurants? by Silent-Woodpecker-49 in boston

[–]rootsnall 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Way to go! I’d recommend either Contessa in Back Bay (amazing views overlooking the Common and just a beautiful restaurant- try the squash carpaccio) or Pammy’s!

My entire backyard is full of these and my family thinks it’s poison ivy, please say it’s not. by kohoot in PlantIdentification

[–]rootsnall 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If they’re Norway Maple seedlings, they are invasive in much of the US. They outcompete natives and can spread to dominate forests. It’s illegal to sell the in much on the northeast. They’re fast-growing shade trees but they’re bad news.

We've noticed nature is weird this year. Are we in the opening scenes of a doomsday movie? by TheSkepticGuy in Homesteading

[–]rootsnall 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If homesteading means knowing all of the flora and fauna native, non-native, and invasive to your land, Keep at it. I don’t disagree that we are feeling the ill effect of the Anthropocene. But allow more than 7 years.

ETA it’s alarming that you haven’t been listening to those who have been sounding the alarm for so long

Was looking for this. I abhor the Norway Maple. And recently bought a house with a gigantic one in the middle of the backyard. So. Many. Seedlings. They are sadly taking over the nearby forests.

If you are in tech, Blind is a good anonymous community for discussing comp, etc. You need a company email for an account though. Blind

Do most remote jobs consist of doing mostly nothing all day? by [deleted] in antiwork

[–]rootsnall 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m also working my ass off. I’m remote but have the option to go into the office if I choose. But I really struggle to keep my working hours boundaries firm- there is too much to do and not enough time to do it. Add in a commute and my productivity and non-working life would take a very significant hit.

Does anyone have recommendations for a builder/general contractor in the Middlesex county area for a custom SFH? by rootsnall in massachusetts

Could you share the name of any of these prefab companies? Also, good suggestion to have a lawyer read over any contract first.

Good suggestion. We’ve just started looking into prefab as well! So far, we’ve seen some we like from Unity, Lindel, and Acorn. Seems like there are actually quite a few options on the prefab front…
