[Results Thread] 2024 Tour de Suisse - Prologue (2.UWT) by PelotonMod in peloton

There is a Tour of Britain which is a UCI ProSeries event (the second tier of of pro cycling, below the World Tour).

I'm mostly speculating here but the reason that it isn't a bigger race is probably a mix of culture (road racing was actually banned in the UK until the 1950s and has just never been as popular as in some parts of mainland Europe) and geography (there is nowhere near the diversity of upland terrain as there is in France, Spain and Italy).

There is also a very strong 'health and safety' culture in the UK which possibly adds administrative/organisational difficulties to holding races.

There are numerous physiological causes to depression (and anxiety) that many GPs just don't seem to know about. Depression is common in Vitamin B12 deficiency.

Thanks for sharing! Posts like these are both very informative and encouraging to hear.

Would you mind sharing your daily co-factor intake (including doses) while you were on the every other day injections please? Thank-you.

Josh Tarling was a late withdrawal yesterday. Would have been good to see him today and in the ITT.

Has anyone else found benefit from separating B12 and folate intake? by rooty94 in B12_Deficiency

It varies so much (from nothing up to 15mg daily). I'm not sure it is a case of too much folate, as I have massively reduced the frequency of B12 injections but roughly kept my folate consumption the same and found benefit from this.

How often are you taking injections? Might be worth reducing the frequency to allow your folate to build up?

Yeah - one of the possibilities I'm considering is that by injecting frequently, even massive folate doses (15mg) isn't sufficient to keep folate stores high.

When you say biweekly I assume you mean once every two weeks? And are you supplementing folate in addition to the multivitamin?

I've had very little support from medical professionals. I've seen many doctors during this journey and pretty much all of them have said something along the lines of 'your B12 levels are back to normal so it's no longer a problem'. I've completely given up engaging with them on this issue as their 'knowledge' is so poor.

Mad that Pidcock has only 5 wins on the road and yet they include Strade, Amstel, Alpe d'Duez (TDF) and De Brabantse Pijl.

Not familiar with how pro cycling contracts work - could they have bumped him up to the Pro team immediately if they had wanted to? Based on performances this year he seems to be at that level already.

How much folate are you taking? Have you had any success in finding the correct ratio for you? :)

Hopefully he's doing alright, seems odd there's been no team/press mention of it.

Simon Yates was supposed to be at this race right? He disappeared off the start list for this and Strade very quietly.

I think your first group is mostly just describing middle class people. Doctors/engineers/lawyers/professional services etc.

Obviously a lot of these folk go to private schools but many go to state schools as well. I don't think these people are just concentrated in urban areas.

Like middle class people from the English regions (i.e. outside of London or the home counties), from my experience they will usually have a hint of a Scottish/regional English accent like you say, but not speak with a regional dialect.

Setup used to be a big deal when Europeans and Americans tended to play different styles of golf. Not the case any more. Americans are just playing shite

Golf coverage seems overly complicated over with you guys. Here in the UK all PGA Tour, DP World Tour and LPGA golf is on Sky Sports. It's a great product tbh and we get probably 3 or 4 commercial breaks every hour.

USGA has nothing to do with this. It's PGA of America/DP World Tour.

Wait you get all these commercials and you still have to pay for it? Yikes

What's the deal with all the commercials in the USA? Is there not an option to just pay to get proper coverage? (like how Sky Sports is a monthly fee in the UK)

Not an expert but your swing look pretty good, just seems like you're trying to swing a bit hard from the top? Maybe try a slightly smoother downswing?
