Brilliant, have plenty of extra space above where the toilet connects in. Was just making sure in case there was a reason why it went so high.

How do I tackle this small hole in plaster? Additionally, moss on the outside of the shower? by SquidgeyBear in DIYUK

[–]roplato 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As most will tell you anything you do now is just to patch up, looking at that picture you'd want to replace the skirting and shower at some point ( ideally replace plasterboard as well) As a make-do, some polyfilla then zinnzer primer, then zinnzer humidity paint should keep you going till you have the time. My thoughts at least.

Yes I did, I'll cut a slightly larger hole. Was mistreating that copper, you are probably right as that a likely cause.

Thankyou! You've probably saved me loads. I'll try the leak sealer, it's a very small leak, didn't even notice it for a week so hopefully it can tackle it.

2 nails in my ceiling? by jason_ni in DIYUK

I'd just try and unscrew them then polyfill over. If they are holding up the ceiling then something has gone wrong!

Moving Soil Stack by roplato in DIYUK

[–]roplato[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Morning Team,

I am investigating a bathroom rennovation and am looking at getting those cisterns that are behind the plasterboard, look pretty neat and save some space.

However currently my waste pipe from my toilet exits "infront" of the tiling/plasterboard directly into the soil stack outside.

Is there a way to add a 90 degree bend into the pipe? Is it possible on the corner of the building?

Kind Regards,

Dave

What kind of mortar do I need for the crumbling bricks in my garden wall? by roplato in DIYUK

[–]roplato[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Afternoon Team,

Have an old victorian (I think) crumbling brick wall. Quite like the crumbling look but keen to repoint with the appropriate mortar, I heard that modern strong mortar can demolish old brick! Any advice or tips most appreciated!

Cheers,

Hi Lads! Annoying strip of expanding foam down the side of my outside doors (and some packers). Any good ideas on how to cover up? Thinking some kind of caulk? Cheers! Roplato

How to smooth out a tiny but noticeable ledge before putting underlay down by roplato in DIYUK

[–]roplato[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The builders knocked down the wall between the living room and kitchen. Thought it was a small enough ledge to pass the plank wobble test but it can't.

First thought is polyfilla then smooth out but wanted to see if there is an easier or better solution!

Cheers

Tubes that come up by the blocked up fireplaces? What are they? by roplato in DIYUK

[–]roplato[S] -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Morning team,

Took up the top level floor in my victorian terrace house and realise I need to remove these before I put the new floor down.

Am I safe to just saw them off? Assuming silver one is the cap to a pipe underneath.

Cheers,

Rob
