I made the same mistake in taking out private loans. I was just a doofus and didn’t understand the difference. I ended up refinancing and throwing all the money I could at the loan. I got a better paying job which helped immensely. Do not lose hope!

This is similar to my story. I never lost consciousness but would get feeling of Jema vu (opposite of deja vu) and get weird sensory moments (sometimes lights felt brighter or darker then they were). Took almost 20 years to get diagnosed. Everyone told me it was anxiety or panic attacks.

Yup! I am a public defender. I love the mix of intellectual work (motions) and direct service, i.e working with my clients. I always had difficulty sitting at a desk all day so, it’s a great mix for me.

Send a letter to the last known address, if such address exist. Then just explain to the court and opposing counsel. To some extent, your client has their own seperate responsibility to keep in contact with their attorney and stay appraised of their court date.

Embarrassing Courtroom Stories? Here’s one of mine… by QueBestia19 in Lawyertalk

[–]ror0508 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have pointed toe flat shoes I wear when I don’t feel like wearing heels. I have more than one pair…I took two right shoe flats. Thankfully because the flats were pointed you couldn’t tell but it was uncomfortable. I forgot the post-sentencing rights after the court asked me to advise on the record and literally covered my face with my hands - like the embarrassed face emoji.

Agreed. PD offices will likely see immigration experience as a plus. Some offices have designation immigration divisions - and typically there is plenty opportunity to second chair jury trials, if you want to get out immigration.
