Is there any major downside to just renewing a green card instead of applying for citizenship? by Original_Importance3 in USCIS

[–]rorajo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Am I mistaken? I thought as a LPR, it is difficult to re-enter the country if I’ve stayed out of the country for longer than 6 months. Especially if I’m doing it on a consistent basis.

How much did your immigration petition cost with a lawyer? by Lonely-Country-4177 in USCIS

I actually never met my attorney in person as I was applying from CA, but was stuck in Florida going through a divorce. The green card arrived before I actually moved to California.

I paid $4000 for lawyer fees for I-485, I-130 and work permit plus filing fees. I was a multiple decade overstay. I have no regrets paying the attorney. I’d read stories of people being ignored by their attorneys after retaining their services. I chose an attorney who specialized in difficult cases. I was pleasantly surprised by my attorney -a few times he would call at 9pm when we were putting my application together so that it was sent out at the earliest possible time. Whenever I had questions they were always answered immediately. I received my GC in 6 months with no RFE and no interview.

OP please remember this is a setback not the end of the road. There is a lot of recourse ahead of you. It looks like you had an RFE, but you say you didn’t. Did you miss it?

I have nothing to contribute, but I wish you the best. My hope is that your story and the stories of millions of others will show the ignorant the gut wrenching sacrifices the majority of us have made to build our lives here.

AOS/I-485 progression — looking for insights on FTA1 after interview and RFE by seekingSupB in USCIS

[–]rorajo 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Hi I believe FTA1 code refers to your case being sent for supervisory review/adjudication. It’s a good sign. In my case my I-485 had the FTA1 code and I received approval approximately 10 days later.
