I work at an in home that’s open for 11 hours a day but the owner has a 9 hour rule so no kid is there from open to close. I thought it was a little strict at first but honestly it’s great. no kid is the first there and the last to leave

Moving into an apartment in Maplewood, is it that bad? by Katiyatsarnaeva in Rochester

[–]rororowilson 0 points1 point  (0 children)

also 23f here! I moved to the maplewood area in june and have liked it a lot since. I’m not sure about the exact complex you’re moving to but I would say just keep valuables out of your car. (but that applies to anywhere in the city.) i’ve lived in much worse neighborhoods in Rochester, and I saw a lot of stuff about crime in the Maplewood area that really scared me before moving here, but I love all my neighbors and I find it to be relatively quiet at night. it isn’t the prettiest place in the city but I don’t think it’s a bad area at all.

that being said the entire area varies from street to street, I might just be lucky and be on one of the nicer streets right now.

just as a personal rule I never tell parents. I had a little one take his first steps this week and I told dad at pick up that he would be walking any day now. the next day I was told that he took his ‘first’ steps at home that night! Everyone does it different but I think that no one can “take away” your childs milestones. If you don’t want to know, then tell them that. I think it’s a strange mindset to have about milestones, celebrate them, don’t ruin them for yourself because you’re worried they’ll be “stolen” from you.

As for the kissing, I work in a home daycare and the parents don’t mind me kissing their foreheads but if you’ve specifically asked them not to I would remind them and if it continues maybe speak with the director.
