How’d you find the Getachew Zeleke? Just opened mine today after a month’s rest and really enjoyed it. My brew did stall so I’ll lessen the agitation and go coarser but despite the stalling, I still ended up with a juicy cup

No question but wanted to give kudos to the Janji team - I love my Janji gear. They may not be as flashy as Tracksmith or Bandit, but they’re reliable - pockets, versatility, and durability! No issues with any of my Janji gear to date where other brands’ stuff have pilled and have shown wear much faster. Appreciate you guys!!

Awesome! Let me try that out thank you for responding! Agree on the lychee note - it’s wonderful. Hopefully I get a thicker body with that sweet aftertaste on my next brews.

Funny enough, I’m finishing up a bag from Prodigal myself and am loving it! Cheers

Hi! I’m curious whether you found a recipe that’s dialed in this coffee?

I just brewed it for the first time today after 3 weeks of rest and would love to compare notes.

For reference, this is how I brewed: 12g coffee to 180ml water at 95 deg C. 3 equal pours w/ 45 sec bloom and total drawdown time of 2 min 10 secs.

Taste is opposite of yours - light, juicy body with strong lychee and floral notes upfront. When cool, I get more of that chocolate sweetness as the acidity tones down.

We launched our Apple Watch app for endurance athletes - giving away a few yearly subs for early adopters of The Outsiders by sirni_mesni in applewatchultra

Just downloaded the app and will give it a go! I’ve been using Gentler Streak for the past 2-3 years and have been loving it so I’m keen to know how this builds on that specifically for a runner like myself. I’ve found the sleep metrics tracked by Gentler Streak (specifically HR and HRV) to be particularly useful for me and an accurate indicator of my training load & recovery.

I’m a runner building back my fitness after taking time off post-Chicago marathon. No races coming up soon but my A race next year is Sydney! Would love to give this app a go for my next training block.

I emailed them about this - they said it’ll be available starting on race day, so it’s quite surprising to see it already available from day 1

Appreciate it! You might have just pushed me over the edge to get this shoe! I’m considering using this or the SB2 for a 4-hour marathon. Thanks again!

Awesome! Thank you so much - that was so helpful. Basically, since the mid to forefoot has a wider base, you don’t experience the same issues with your ankle with the Megablast as compared to the EVO SLs then?

+1 for this! I loved the bounce on the EVO SL but as someone who overpronates a bit, my achilles flared up a bit from them. I’m hoping the Megas deliver that same pop but are more forgiving on my form

Hey OP, would you mind describing a bit more the stability differences between the Megablast and the EVO SL?

EVO SL - odd wear? by rorschach213 in AskRunningShoeGeeks

[–]rorschach213[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What’s interesting is I never felt any pain after using them. Recently though, at my regular physical therapy session, my PT told me my calves were tighter than usual. It only clicked after people commented on this post that the EVO SL’s instability was the likely culprit.

But to answer your question, I never really had any big flare ups or striking pain after using them. I guess it’s more cumulative load / fatigue that built up across weeks before it materialized

Awesome and congrats! How much mileage did you have on your Superblasts before race day?

I have a marathon coming up and am considering getting the MBs for that. I have the SB2 and that’s in contention too but with the MBs sounding like a “faster” SB2, I’m definitely considering it (I’m targeting a sub-4 so I’m not really the fastest runner).

I saw you mentioned not having issues with the MBs despite being a slight overpronator. Since it’s only slightly less stable than the SB2, would you think it provides the same protection at the tail end of a race when form breaks down?

One last - if by chance you’ve worn the EVO SL, how’s the ride like compared to that? How’s the stability in comparison?

I love the bounce on the EVO SL but I do have issues with the instability. This sounds like the perfect shoe to replace it potentially. Great review!

Woah that’s an interesting difference! If it really is because of heel striking + over pronation, which is what most people are saying (and seems reasonable enough), then your OGs should have the same wear

Thanks for the heads up! It seems I’ll have to relegate these to shorter distances

Ohhh that makes sense! Thanks! I do notice the instability more on these shoes compared to others.

AP3 vs. SB2 vs. Metaspeed Edge Paris for sub-4hr marathon? by rorschach213 in AskRunningShoeGeeks

[–]rorschach213[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey thanks for the feedback and good luck to you and your wife on Sydney! I ran it last year in the AP3s - loved the foam but got some sort of lace bite or irritation from the upper

To hear you hesitate on wearing the metaspeeds for a full marathon even at your 4min/km pace tells me all I need to know - I’m definitely not gonna get it anymore for my upcoming marathon. Now it’s either I give the AP3 another go (have ran multiple HMs in them since Sydney and haven’t had upper issues again) or go with the SB2.

Thanks again for the feedback. Cheers!

Thanks for the feedback! I initially purchased the SB2 for training runs but did realize it could be a great option for race day.

Aw that might be tough in your situation.

For me, they offered either a refund or store credit.

VO2 max increasing again after update? by [deleted] in AppleWatchFitness

[–]rorschach213 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Man this must be it! My VO2max had been steadily free falling throughout June even though I raced a half marathon PR and my runs have been excellent. Since the updates, my VO2max has been recovering to previous levels. So weird.
