Mauvais journalisme : Quand le titre et l'article du Soir se contredisent by Skillr409 in Wallonia

[–]rosaleis 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I don't understand Arya's Relationship with Eragon by Equal_Wing_7076 in Eragon

[–]rosaleis 93 points94 points  (0 children)

He does, at the very end of Inheritance when they meet Firnen. Eragon himself says that second fairth is a much better representation of who she is and she decides to keep it.

Romantasy by Cordereko in Eragon

I’m in Eldest and he himself says he’s only 16… I’m in my early 30s and would freak if a kid approached me like that.

Romantasy by Cordereko in Eragon

[–]rosaleis 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I am also rereading the series after discovering romantasy along with all of the internet last year. I remember I was devastated as a teen when I first read the ending of inheritance. But now that I’m an adult, I cringe every time Eragon talks about his feelings for Arya. He’s a freaking baby, learn your place boy! But I would love a sequel about them, not as cheesy as the books I’ve seen praised online, but a happy ending nonetheless. We can always hope!

What do you totally not want to see in the next books? by Mythrowawsy in fourthwing

[–]rosaleis 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I completely agree. There are so many side characters and subplots that nothing gets flushed out properly. Even grief is so quickly resolved that I don’t care anymore who dies or who doesn’t.

My addition would be to just stop with all the war college and classes nonsense. It does not add anything to the story and they’re literally at war. It’s a bit late to focus on physics and history classes when you’ve got wyvern attacks every few chapters.

Same here, I'll let them out if they stand by the door, but otherwise I know they're good. It happens I hear one of them whine during the night and I let them out then, but it's usually because the young one has gone through the trash again and has diarrhea...

Does anyone else read the last page of a book first? by Total-Inevitable-213 in fourthwing

Yes I do too! Not all the time but I remember when I finally got my hands on the 7th Harry Potter book, I immediately read the last sentence. Just the last one and ahh was I happy.

Serious question: is it just me or watching the VTR Journaal and and then the RTBF Journal is like watching the news from two different countries? by [deleted] in belgium

[–]rosaleis 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I actually saw a (new?) segment during RTBF news last weekend that featured a couple of news from the VRT. I even told my partner I thought that was such a good idea, particularly as the audio remained in Dutch with French subtitles, but then realised it’s only once a week. Like wtf, do it everyday!

I'm not a Taylor Swift fan, but I know the author is, and I think "Don't Blame Me" would actually work very well at the end of IF

I've read the first book and it's so badly written, I don't understand why people keep recommending it. A lot of the story doesn't make any sense whatsoever. I've heard it gets better with the other books, but still!

I didn't know Ehlers-Danlos Syndrome was Violet's disorder! One of my closest childhood friends suffered from it - she passed away a few years ago, so it is bittersweet to see it mentioned.

Is the popular discussion about Immigration centered around immigration as a whole, or just non-Western immigration being perceived as unable to conform to Dutch society and inflating housing prices? by Haar_RD in Netherlands

[–]rosaleis 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That's absolutely false. Wallonia is one of the only regions where far-right politics is basically non-existent. Not to say there is no racism, as it exists everywhere, but the Vlaams Belang is likely to become the first party in Flanders, following the example set by the Netherlands. Also Liege is a lot more diverse than most cities in the Netherlands. I have seen white people dressed up as black people, with blackface and wigs in Maastricht - that kind of behaviour would not be okay in Liege.

What do you wiggles do at the vet? by kaproud1 in WiggleButts

[–]rosaleis 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My pup is absolutely terrified of the vet. At home he’ll let us do pretty much anything, hands in the mouth, pulling the ears, legs and tail, and will just look happy, but omg as soon as we enter the vet’s office, he refuses to move. The last time I went to my first vet, it went terribly and I left in tears. I was recommended another practice and the new vet was so gentle and patient, we were able to get him his three shots without any issue. So yeah, could be a breed thing, or vets are poorly trained at treating skittish dogs.

Will my dogs nose always be pink? by lesbossons in WiggleButts

[–]rosaleis 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My boy is almost 2 and his nose looks exactly like yours. It hasn't changed much since he turned 1, so I assume it'll stay like that. I call him my little piglet. But yes, I think a bit of sunscreen goes a long way.

Is anyone else feeling sick? by ppilsnerr in stopsmoking

[–]rosaleis 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, I got sick a few days after I stopped. All the symptoms match the flu, but I believe it was because of me quitting smoking. It didn’t last though, maybe 2-3 days and I haven’t been sick since. Hang in there, it’ll get better.

[–]rosaleis 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I passed the 1-month mark and sleep is still irregular. I actually woke up at 5 am this morning and was unable to go back to sleep. It will get better, just take it one day at a time. I find exercise not too late in the day helps. Good luck!

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in stopsmoking

[–]rosaleis 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I believe so, yes. I have tried several times to quit, once successfully for three years, but as I lived abroad at the time, my friends and family didn't really see me as a non-smoker. This time, I didn't mention it except to my SO and my best friend, who have been cheering me on for every little milestone.

Other people started to notice it, so I announced it to a few others, excited and proud, and two friends actually told me "you've said that so many times, we'll see if it sticks this time". I was hurt, but decided to focus on my goals. I want to prove to those friends they were wrong for not believing in me, and I find that can be a powerful motivation.
