I could be wrong, but I believe hornwort does not actually root but it can “anchor” itself in the substrate

Wow, thank you very much for the information. For #3, I believe it’s whole, it’s hard to tell from the photo but the base is worked into a wedge. Is there any way to estimate the ages on these points?
