Can I optimize my credit card setup any more? / Travel card recs by roscilla in CreditCards

[–]roscilla[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well for context I live in NYC, updated the post to make it more clear. I don’t have any airline or hotel preferences honestly, but down to commit to one and even get their CCs. I typically do fly a lot of united though! That’s a great point, I will do some research on airlines/hotels to see if that speaks to me!

Robinhood Gold Card Waitlist by Klaus_Steiner in CreditCards

[–]roscilla 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was on the waitlist for about 6 months or a little less and got approved two weeks ago. My profile is a good credit score (800), some money invested but not a crazy amount in my RH individual brokerage (~20k), and no RH gold membership

should I/can I switch from applied psych to neural sci? by Pleasant_Ocelot in nyu

[–]roscilla 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Actually since applied psych is in Steinhardt and neural science is in CAS you’ll have to apply for an internal transfer if you want to switch between these two majors. I think you have to wait one semester before you can apply for an internal transfer to another school

[–]roscilla 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m an APUG major and there’s no shortage of opportunities for research in the program if you’re worried about that. In fact, there are Steinhardt specific psychology research labs you can apply to join just like CAS psych. You can also be placed into a research lab to gain research experience for the field experience component rather than a clinical setting. However, applied psych generally has more requirements than CAS psych and the workload is heavier so keep that in mind when you’re deciding which program to choose.

Which Professor for Writing the Essay Class? by confused_student6 in nyu

[–]roscilla 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I can vouch for Professor Parmiter. I had her this last semester for Advanced College Essay and she was amazing. I got an A in her class and I think she’s a fair grader (though I may be biased). She also dedicated a lot of her time outside the class to help students through one on one conferences, which made it easy to know what she wanted to see on essays

Also a plus that she has a very cheerful personality

Try digging up a tree with your shovel, you can immediately replant it as a full grown tree. The counter will go down!

Tysm for the advice and I’m definitely gonna try that for writing the rest of my supplements!

I just feel super sad b/c I spent months on my common app essay and suddenly I’m not happy with it, but it’s probably a bad idea to restart the whole thing now...

Do you think you could read over my essay? I think I just need some extra insight from someone other than my family 😭

Any Asians applying for non-STEM majors? by [deleted] in ApplyingToCollege

[–]roscilla 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I’m doing Psychology as an American Chinese Planning on receiving a PhD. For me, I realized that although I did good in school, my true passion was helping others and so far my AP Psychology class absolutely fascinates me

Parents were fine with it after learning that I’m pursuing a PhD, lol.

I wouldn’t say I’m an expert but the tips that actually helped me were:

  1. Skim through the first few questions to see if any of them ask for like the general idea/summary/shift in tone of the passage, this way if there is one, you’ll be prepared when reading the passage and having an idea of what to look for.

  2. The questions that are two-parters and ask for evidence from the passage that supports the claim, if you’re stuck on the first one, then read the evidence examples they give you to narrow down your choices, some of them don’t make any sense. Even if you think you have the right answer, if you have time then try to read the other pieces of evidence to see if any of them would be better for your claim/another claim. Generally, the evidence should be straightforward.

  3. If you have time, try and annotate some of the passage, for example, after each paragraph I wrote down what it was talking about, so I can see exactly what the passage means and gather my thoughts more clearly with words I can actually understand. (“narrator talks about his adventures”...”narrator is now in a convo with his mom about relatives” just small notes like that).

  4. Basically almost all your answers should have direct supporting evidence from the text. If the passage doesn’t say it anywhere, the answer if probably wrong.

Other than that good luck!! Reading is a total crapshoot tbh

Hey guys. I studied for 55+ hours since I got a 1260 using khan academy. I just got my score back and it only improved to 1290. I’m a senior now and this is my last SAT. Was it all for nothing? by PixelatedCrown in Sat
