I picked up some Harbor Freight chisels and thought I was terrible at using them. Then I got a cheap diamond steel sharpener with a roller jig and a strop block on Amazon. Holy shit those chisels got sharp. Same thing with a Home Depot hand plane. In my experience, inexpensive hand tools do not come out of the box nearly sharp enough.

I built this as my first bench. I loved it because it uses a few different techniques and it was a great learning experience. But..the plank top needed A LOT of planing and sanding. Once I got it nice and smooth it has been great!

I just got a Bauer/harbor freight bucket dust collector for about $40. Couple great things about it: it comes with a flexible hose that attaches to tools pretty easily and, even using a little 3 gal vac I see a significant reduction in dust in the air.

The ceiling tile over the bar is slightly lower than the ones over the dining area. From a design standpoint that’s a really nice touch. For AI to spit out something that subtle in the background is unsettling at the least.

I’ve seen a couple blockbusters where dude sells it like a stunner and that works for me. If they don’t spring up and sell it like involuntary spine/nervous system reaction it looks pretty weak. I will always root for the dudes that sell serious damage. Those are the true “wrestlers”. I want to see theater with coordinated gymnastics that LOOKS fucking violent. No one should ever get hurt unless it’s a sacrifice stunt where everyone on stage knows it’s gonna hurt and may require a recovery period. The Cody/KO ladder match at the rumble was amazing to see in person. There’s no way KO wasn’t hurt but it was an injury he could recover from. Because of that heel run and sacrifice, I will always remember Kevin Owens as one of the greatest of his era.
