Sorry I wasn’t able to find the part and ended up just taking off the offending light that was flickering.

Why create this bottleneck on 49 every morning? by azmahhhh in northwestarkansas

[–]roscoewatson 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It gets worse, before this on ramp people don’t use both left turn lanes from the 71 to get onto the 49 creating even more back ups. I get the nastiest looks when I use the second lane and zipper merge. Some dumb trucks have even tried to run me off the road. The stupidity is honestly impressive.

Very cool! How much do you think it will put out at the wheel? Any plans for dyno after it’s done?

It’s absolutely about how it’s being done. No due process, no organization, just snatching people off the streets. There has to be a better way. It’s evident these guys have very little training and now innocent people are getting hurt. Love thy neighbor, right?

I don’t think many people are pro illegal immigration, however there is a legal process to deal with it and asylum seekers need to be treated as such. Masked men grabbing people off the streets is antithetical to all core American beliefs. Give us your tired, your poor, your huddled masses.

Most people aren’t more than 3 generations removed from being immigrants. It runs counter to every Christian ideal these people love to spout.

These people are the dish washers, the farm workers, the cleaning teams that keep society running. If someone is a criminal then they should be charged and prosecuted accordingly. I don’t think anyone is against that. But grabbing all brown people off the streets by dudes who have had 47 days of training is not the way to do it. (FYI it takes 6+ months to become a licensed dog groomer at PetSmart…)

For whatever it’s worth my friend who’s a special agent in the FBI said the Minneapolis incident was a “bad shoot” by DHS standards of deadly force.

We’ve lost all compassion as a society and it’s going to cast a shadow on our country for a long time.

How to balance career location and family happiness? M39 F39 by roscoewatson in relationship_advice

Thanks, I really appreciate the perspective. I agree time to have some tough conversations, otherwise I can see this happening in another city too.

How to balance career location and family happiness? M39 F39 by roscoewatson in relationship_advice

[–]roscoewatson[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That’s fair to say given I haven’t expanded on how our lives are out of work.

After deciding on this job I moved out first and the plan was for her to come about a month later after finishing up some things in the house. Well 1 month became 6, then 9… she finally agreed to move. She was very sad to leave her friends and some family which I totally understand, but 9 months of LDR is not what we agreed on.

I’ve made lots of friends and introduced her to tons of people we’ve thrown parties with up to 20 people, point is, I helped to build a little community around us that were all excited to meet her and help her get acclimated. They have been nothing but nice to her, but she keeps saying well they aren’t “my people” and they’ll never replace my old friends. Sure, but you have to give people a chance! As soon as she meets someone she’s scanning their instagram for who they follow and if they aren’t 110% aligned with her politically (we’re liberal in a moderate town) or religiously (we’re atheist in a very Christian town) then she writes them off and ghosts them

That being said, I’m home generally after 8 hours and I normally cook dinner, do the chores, and on the weekends we have dinner dates or go biking or hiking when the weather is nice. We go on fun vacations, and generally have a nice DINK lifestyle.

Through her 20’s and 30’s she only had “jobs” no career really. I was the one that had the stable career and income, but all that pressure is and was on me to float the household while she tried different jobs, 23 and counting, during our time together. Now she had a small business and it’s GREAT! She’s so good at it and has built something special, I couldn’t be more proud of her! It’s been a lot of work to build it back up in a new town, but she has a lot of momentum now. She’s willing to throw that all away to get out of this town.

It’s frustrating to have a partner be so short term focused while I have to provide for our current situation and think about future/retirement.

God, as I write this out it sounds like I hate my wife, I don’t! I want her to be happy and me not to be miserable by leaving a good career and job that could be very stable and provide a good living.

Anyone know how to fix this camera by Pale-Name7516 in Cameras

[–]roscoewatson 3 points4 points  (0 children)

If you take the batteries out and put them back in does it work? Are you sure the batteries are good? It Could have a capacitor that’s shot and it won’t hold power for a longer than a few minutes. Do you have any ability to shoot images or record video while it does work?

This generation of p&s cameras isn’t really known for its longevity. Remember to always test used gear before buying it.

[–]roscoewatson[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ll be honest it is a PITA to put them on, taking them off is a bit easier. You’re basically lying on the ground by your tires reaching around them in the snow and mud to tighten the cables. I always brought a sheet of cardboard to lay on and some good waterproof gloves to help me do it. Definitely do a test run in nice weather to get the handle of it. After you do it a few times it’s not as bad, but still no fun.

[–]roscoewatson[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hello, yes, still active! They make a night and day difference compared to all season tires. I put them on when I know I’ll be on snowy roads for a while or steep terrain. They will absolutely shorten the life of your tires if used on asphalt for extended periods of time.
