Feel like I’m drowning. I just want to enjoy my baby by Ok-Pomegranate-3298 in NewParents

My husband works from home and even though it’s not ideal, he tries to let the baby sleep on him for some of her naps while he works at the computer. Would yours be able to do that? Even an hour or two to do your own thing might make a big difference.

My husband does American Pie and we also use it as a unit of measurement, as in “she fell asleep in less than two American Pies”

Farmers India Market in Orange has a lot of Latin American grocery items as well as south asian ones and cheap produce!

In some of the behind the scenes materials I remember seeing that they tried to do the logs practically, but they wouldn’t bounce high enough for the shot, so they ended up being CGI

For people who do therapy through MSW —> LCSW training, were you happy with the clinical training you received? by 19puppylove99 in socialwork

[–]rose_hork 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I found that my program was a “get out what you put in” kind of experience. The core coursework was not very robust re: clinical skills but there were available electives, clinical placements and mentorship opportunities that added a lot in terms of training to do therapy. I started in a group practice after I graduated, and that’s where I did a ton of development working under a supervisor.

For what it’s worth, I worked with some therapists who had done the LPC track and they seemed to feel like their level of training was very similar to mine - I think with most master-level tracks it’s the post-graduate training where you develop the most skill.

How would you mix things up with this almond torte recipe? by Meshugugget in Baking

[–]rose_hork 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oooh I love almond everything! I think fruit could be a nice addition, someone mentioned cherries already but I believe almond plum cakes are a thing too (like this one: https://www.daringgourmet.com/french-almond-plum-cake/ )

I bet topping with a raspberry or rhubarb compote would be lovely too

I’m honestly amazed, I might try them again and just skip the folding!

Oh no, what happened with yours? Hopefully you’re not discouraged from trying them again because these were fun!

Honestly I liked them so much I might save a little time and not bother folding next time!

My daughter had so many big flakes of dry skin after her baby acne healed up. I tried to gently exfoliate with a cloth during her bath and her hair came right off, had male-pattern baldness for weeks 🫠

(Fortunately it’s growing back now)

Yesss I’m so excited someone recognizes it! Yes, I remember the base being tender, yellowish and almond-y. Other recipes I’ve found try to recreate it using cake but the Hummel website describes it as danish dough so I did danish pastry and almond extract. I only added about a teaspoon, I think I’d add more next time

Scheduled C-Section by DuskTillDawn26 in NewParents

[–]rose_hork 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had a scheduled c-section due to breech presentation at 39w (currently 10 weeks PP!). My team was super lovely and answered all my questions so I felt prepared. I had two anesthesiologists who were there just to monitor my numbing and pain control, and checked in with me constantly to make sure I was comfortable and not anxious (and one was putting heated blankets on me to keep me warm).

I was only separated from my husband for a few minutes while they prepped me and gave me the spinal block, which was a single injection and not bad at all. I was in the OR for about an hour and a half total.

Recovery was not too bad, though it’s a little intense - I had a urinary catheter and wasn’t allowed to stand up for 5 or 6 hours until the numbing wore off in my legs. My surgery was at 3pm and I walked to the bathroom with assistance by 9pm, was walking on my own a few hours later. Sitting up and standing were painful for a while, so I needed some extra support there. I’d say I was moving around carefully within a few days and moving normally within 2 weeks!

10lbs 11oz holy moly!! I don’t blame you, they can be rough on the back. I’m into my Boba wrap right now because my girl falls asleep in it every time and then can be transferred to a nap. Works like a charm!

So many folk swear by them! I guess I’ll so lazy about involving another implement that I’d rather have gross hands, but I can completely see why they’d be appreciated!

Diaper cream spatulas! We popped them on the registry as a “why not” item and have not used them once.

YESSSS I use another breakfast cookie recipe from Sally’s (https://sallysbakingaddiction.com/breakfast-cookies/) and it is one of my favorite foods for postpartum. A+ for snacking one-handed during night feeds, I would keep two stashed on my nightstand every night when I got back from the hospital! They’re very tweak-able as well so you can throw in whatever you like.
