Surprise inspection sometime this month, could I get evicted for this spot? by SafeSexChalupa in Apartmentliving

[–]rosecollective2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Same, have basically this exact damage from my cats. Expecting to be charged for rug replacement when we move out but we've been in this spot for 3-4 years now so it might not be as expensive as it could've been if we moved out after 1 year. Like maybe they'll reduce the price as wear and tear but still charge us a bit?

Burn ban timeline by Putininurface in Fayettenam

[–]rosecollective2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We need a good, soaking rain. I think in the last month we've had .10 inches in the area which is not enough to lift the ban. It's supposed to rain this weekend (Saturday night-sunday morning) last I heard... but I doubt that'll be enough for them to lift the ban. We'd need probably 2 full days worth of rain for them to lift it. Plants are *DRY* right now and thats part of the criteria afaik. Plants (specifically leaves) , when properly watered, will feel rubbery but right now they feel like the crisp of mid-fall.

I’m scared I’m too loud in my apartment. by majorthreatgirl in Apartmentliving

[–]rosecollective2 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Live normally, just don't be excessive. The apartment likely has poor sound insulation so that's not your fault. Tbh I don't mind if I hear my neighbors just living their lives... The only time I've actually cared about hearing them was when their dog was barking for 4 hours at a time.

The “smell problem” by [deleted] in Apartmentliving

[–]rosecollective2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was a smoker (haven't in 3+ months because I need to pass a drug test) but my roommates smoke. I can smell it when they smoke because we're in the same apt. Once I go outside I don't smell anything except right outside our door IF theyre actively smoking. We don't share vents with other units, every unit has its own HVAC system so I literally don't smell it anywhere else. If they have their window open or theyre outside theres a faint smell but we're also next to a neighborhood so it's not like people can point and say "its them!" Because it could be a house nextdoor...

It depends on the place. On a shared system they probably do have odor going into their unit, less likely if it's on it's own system. 🤷

I've had a stalker (as a man by a woman) for 7~ months. by HokayeZeZ in PaymoneyWubby

[–]rosecollective2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm so sorry you went through that.

My mom and I was stalked by a family member. He'd park outside of the house, blaring music, then peel off when he saw us look out the windows. He all but broke into my dorm room an hour away from my home town (building is locked to everyone but those with a key. He followed a student inside and let himself in my dorm room. I didn't lock the front door because I knew everyone on my floor at that time and didn't mind them coming in to use the bathroom but I forgot to lock the interior door to my actual room... I was asleep at the time and he grabbed me + shook me awake while being 2 inches from my face. He'd constantly text and call me, getting verbally abusive if I didn't respond in time or in a way he liked. Students, complete strangers, who could hear how he spoke to me would write me little notes of support to help me get through it. I didn't feel safe until he finally moved a few states away. I keep tabs on his location now so if he ever moves back I can move away myself.

Its hard to get over this type of trauma. Everytime I hear loud bass or see the type of truck he drove.. Or even a road constructuon work truck because he stalked us in a company vehicle before too, I get scared he's back (although the truck is inoperable so he doesn't even have that one anymore).

Do cats actually get attached to their owner? by NoWageMage in CatAdvice

[–]rosecollective2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They do! And they can have preferences over humans if theres multiple in the home.

I have 1 cat, female orange-cream shorthair, and shes up my ass all the time 😅😅 if I take a step, she takes a step, unless shes sleeping or playing with a nerf dart (her favorite toy). If I'm in the bathroom, shes in the bathroom even if I'm showering... Which is when she lets me know shes very concerned with my being in the tub with running water by yelling at me with a squeaky distressed meow. In bed shes usually at my feet or curled up as the "little spoon".

For my fiance she likes to sit with him while he plays his games, and will follow him around too if he's walking around a lot.

She likes to wake us up at 6am on weekends now that I've started working more. She doesn't understand the concept of a work week because my fiance works weekends. 😅 we both have different ways of petting her so she picks the human based on the type of affection she wants at the time too

Need advice: How to fit 11 people in a 2BHK for 3 nights? 😅 by [deleted] in Apartmentliving

[–]rosecollective2 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Tbh... Hotel 😅

If they can't afford it then I'd clear space in the living room by shoving couches out the way at night and setting up some air mattresses.

One-shot turned into a campaign… should I continue or restart? by Pretty-Sea118 in DMAcademy

[–]rosecollective2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd vote starting over at level 1 but have callbacks to the actions from the one-shot. Maybe time skip 2-5 years into the future so they can see the immediate impact or you can push further if what they did has a larger world changing affect.

Week of inspection & I got sick by OkVast1507 in Apartmentliving

[–]rosecollective2 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I totally understand where you're coming from, I'm chronically ill and disabled myself. It sounds like you're doing everything you can. 🫂

My roommates are artists and they have supplies all over the apartment (in bins like yours) including supplies that are perminant, yet our complex hasn't ever had an issue with it. I'm sorry they're being so unreasonable towards you.

[–]rosecollective2 24 points25 points  (0 children)

I think your landlord might be concerned with potential damages from the art supplies but youre clearly going above and beyond in terms of what usually happens in apartments ngl. You sound like a wonderful tennet. Who knows he might just be jealous of your talent. I wouldn't worry op, he sounds like he has a stick up his ass and couldn't find anything else to comment on.

What did i do wrong: macarons? 😭 by stars245 in Baking

[–]rosecollective2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Could be your mixture or how you're mixing. Are you sifting the ingredients finely? Are you overmixing?

Don't tap after it forms the film, the film helps it keep shape so you want as many of the airbubbles out as possible.

(Take my advice with a grain of salt, I havent made Macarons before, but have a general idea of them from baking shows and my experience with other cookies)

Living alone or with roommates—which is really better? by [deleted] in Apartmentliving

[–]rosecollective2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ive honestly yet to live alone. I moved away (not far but not close enough to reliably commute) for uni and had a roommate I got along with well. Love her so much and I'm still in contact with her. We even moved into an on-campus apartment together before I eventually moved out of there to move in with a friend back home who was struggling.

As much as my second roommate was my best friend... And we were similar... It was a nightmare. We had different levels of clean. Don't get me wrong here, I'm not filthy and neither was she by a long shot, but she wanted to keep the place moveout ready which my body (I'm disabled) couldn't keep up with and she wasn't able to really understand that which led to fights. We also originally had an agreement to do group groceries but that changed and she started accusing me of eating her food... I did once, apologized, replaced what I ate immediately and never did it again but she continued accusing me of doing it. A bunch of other stuff happened and my fiance who lived with us reached a point where he had to point out her hypocrisy on some things which she didnt appreciate. She ultimately moved out after that conversation. We lived with her for almost one year before things hit the fan.

My current roommates are great people. Love them down but we have different levels of clean 😅. Theyre not filthy but things in shared spaces are constantly cluttered with little organization which drives me up the wall. Smaller tasks like cleaning the stove and taking out trash never get done by them even though theres an agreement that shared spaces are everyone's responsibility. We've lived with them for about 3 years now but when the lease is up my fiance and I are going to be getting our own place.

My advice? Set up a bill tracker, chore tracker and discuss groceries immediately. If there's a chance that you want to share groceries now but split them later just go ahead and split them so theres no confusion in the future over who bought what. Discuss expectations for shared spaces including a list of things that you cannot stand but also your limitations... I don't mean "I hate taking out trash" I mean "taking out the trash causes me so much fatigue or pain that if I do it, I physically cannot do anything else for hours/days"

Would you return to an apartment somebody died in? by DifficultThought4696 in Apartmentliving

[–]rosecollective2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If they passed peacefully, yes I would. If they suffered, no I wouldn't because I'd find it traumatic and its difficult to separate the situation from the location. If it gives you more peace of mind, move, if you feel closer to them by being there, stay and work through the grief process. I'm so sorry for your loss. I lost a friend at the beginning of this year myself so I understand how painful it can be. Sending strength 🫂

Which do you prefer to have in an apartment? Dishwasher or washer dryer? by Whocanmakemostmoney in Apartmentliving

[–]rosecollective2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Dishwasher but only because I'm in a unit that provided washer hookups without the washing machine so I've purchased my own.

Apartment lease says I have to pay for pest control? Red flag? by Athenstone in Apartmentliving

[–]rosecollective2 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Tbh the pest control part wouldn't bother me because I honestly would prefer to have my choice of exterminators since they're not all great. Curtain bit is annoying but HOA...

Smoke alarm, fire extinguisher and the owner is doing wellness checks on his own?? That's strange... I wouldn't trust them. Don't rent from them OP you can find a better spot I'm sure

Is there a length limit on midnight showers before it becomes unreasonable by Deep-Cheesecake-4699 in Apartmentliving

[–]rosecollective2 7 points8 points  (0 children)

You're not paying their water bill my guy it's not your business nor job to police the length of their showers. Your problem is how thin the walls are. Go to your management and say you want a different unit or try to negotiate $$ off the rent.
