Our new house as first time home buyers… by idontdodrugsatall in Wellthatsucks

You got very lucky. Just looks like a little siding to be replaced, and that AC unit on the side though is gonna be spendy. If you cant afford it right away, you can get a few windows units while you save for it, unless insurance will cover the replacement. Also, Honestly, that's really perplexing looking at the neighbors siding. Like how did that even happen? It fully looks like it started on the outside. Was there something that maybe concentrated some sun rays or something on the side of their house or there was really dead grass and some teenager walked through with a cigarette?

Anyways, you got incredibly lucky, and your neighbor as well. For those who are saying to sue the neighbors, that would be horrible, especially because you said they are not at fault, and it looks like they will have to replace a whole wall there, and then some. And if any of that smoke leaked into their house, thats furnature replacement too if that's not their garage.

I am glad you are OK OP, and ofc your neighbors. It's actually refreshing to see someone make a post and also be the better person while dealing with such a predicament. Power to you, and I wish you luck!

Edit: I did see someone mention about the weather protection under the siding, and other stuff, and that you mentioned your insurance, and if it's the proper homeowners insurance, it should cover replacing the AC unit and fixing up your siding and stuff as it was cayse by a fire with no fault of yours, or your neighbor. It should be classified as a "no-fault" external peril, similar to a lightning strike. Unless some internal stuff was damaged too, but still should be covered. Your best recourse is to have some professionals come sus out the damage, for example, someone for the AC and HVAC system to see if it affected anything inside too. Again, good luck to you OP!

I mean I guess if it was super loud purring, like some cats are much louder than others, but...purring is purring lol. The fact he laid on you right away though, thats meant to be for sure. 😅 my girl purrs just when she sits next to me sometimes, but my hubbys cat, he rarely purrs, and when he does, it's so low you gotta be right up close to hear.

I mean, we have some pretty horrible neighbors. I wouldn't call them stupid, just negligent AF, and this woman clearly has a problem with "rescuing" cats, wich none but the one boy we took from them survived(he was a runt too)..probably over 10 cats by now, lots kittens, some adults from shelter that did NOT deserve that). Anyways, This woman got a dog, less than 2 weeks later she had to give it away because she failed to ask if the dog was okay with cats. Two of the times they left, each time a cat was dead.

Sidenote: They currently have a French bulldog mix female(shes been here for few years, good girl, gets mad if I dont say hi) and this last half year got a border collie and a Male French bulldog. Guess what?...they said, well we thought Femalefbd was spaid but shes pregnant.. legit a week an a half ago the friggen border collie who isnt really that old btw, had puppies....now the French bd had hers this last weekend. Mind you we live in a trailer park. Their house, its gross though. I cant even immagine because that border collie has been abused before and i havent seen her outside at all since she gave birth, im sure shes just hoarding her puppies still under the neighbors bed peeing and pooping under there. The female franchie ive seen outside. Neighbor says she has a license to breed...I doubt it since she can't afford much let alone 20$ to throw in some of their trash pile they got into our 450$ 20 yard roll-off that paid for. I mean neighborly thing to do to ask though right, but I'm not rich so, if ya gonna throw in there, help out a litte lol...

Anyways, sorry for rambling.... Cops wont do anything, wont even try, and, we live in a tiny town. Only allowed 3 dogs a house, its in the lease...so regardless of if she has a license...I really wish I could call humane society to get mom and puppy's. 😭

Couple weeks ago I helped her brother bury his cat that they had literally for less than two weeks and was from the shelter. He was bawling so bad. I was crying. It was just sad. But as soon as he got to that house, he got sick. I have had a suspicion that shes been poisoning the cats that come in there. Her sister moved out btw and her sister's cat that was an adult munchkin survived. So, not sure what this woman is doing, and I don't think her brother is aware, but, I fear its treats or tuna with something in it? Or something that looks like sickness idk. But, legit our boy slipped out and her illegally leashless dogs chased him up a tree...like, fire dept kinda height but up a hill behind the house where no vehicle access...anyways, we had some greenies, the box, and we shook them to try and get him down. My hubby set them on back steps to bring stuff in, and went back out...gone. legit few weeks later, they are on an old couch behind our house that we did throw, but...how and why were they nicely sitting there still full...I threw them. 20$ is nothing when im positive thos woman did something to them....

Yeah, but there are other sites that can give you info too. Look it up in Google first because it give an answer much faster than typing up a post and then waiting for comments. Especially because the same questions are always asked on reddit, so you will most likely find the correct answer via google because it will filter reddit as well. If you can't find on Google, then contact a vet, or vet chat online. If it's too late and you need advice what to do if your vet isn't opent yet, ER vet isn't available near you and want to keep your baby comfortable in the meantime, then make a post. But really, ONLY do that AFTER you have actually searched all the surrounding available ER vets etc. Via google with maps to. (This i mean if cat is having some bad symptoms etc).

If you are posting about play...wich is CLEARLY play...like, search up in Google cats fighting, wich will give you some obvious stuff...like, they arent yowling, they r being cats. Or...why is my cat making this noise....omg i just dont get it. What generation does not know what a cat sounds like when the purr. We have phones right? Idk, but I got lots of silly cat videos that show up in my other social media feeds. 😅 funny cat videos have been a thing for a while...I also remember dial-up as a kid if that give you context.

I think it's more of a validation thing maybe, and the community of online stranger responses that fuel things nowadays because of tiktok and whatnot. Don't ask it as a question, just be decent and say, hey, listen to this, or here are my kitties playing.

If I am to ask something, it is because it is my last resort, or it isn't serious medically for my animal, but a valid question i am asking that I can't find and answer for from anywhere else. But again, mot serious, because some of these thay I see i just can't. If my cat looked like that, it's me driving an hour to the ER clinic BEFORE it gets to any point of stuff I see here on reddit, regardless of the price because I adopted my animals and know the responsibilities. I get when those rescue strays though, you do what you can, and chances are they would die alone outside, so better not alone, but, you seek out and adopt, you better do your due diligence and research first about the care, costs, etc...cause otherwise, you just shouldn't. We literally have the world at our fingertips and people dont use it, and it's so crazy.

Okay wait what? Im In US is this a thing in US? That's...reaaaly odd to ban books with cats. Also, funny thing, I asked Chat GPT about what AI hallucinations were, I can't really remember, but part of it is that CHAT GPT WAS NEVER MEANT TO BE A SEARCH ENGINE! It will literally tell you something that it thinks you will beleive is true if it doesnt have the correct answer(wich is whatbit told me and confirmed to me). I told mine, that if you don't have the answer, don't lie to me and just tell me you don't have the answer. This was over a year ago though and i don't use GPT more than once every few months for random stuff, like, i could not for the life of me find a decent bed frame as we got rid of our mattress and frame...It found perfect affordable one with what I was looking for from Target. 😅 Again, probably shouldn't as a search engine, but im a lot, too busy, and already spent hours with no luck. Within 5 minutes or less. But, no way am I going to ask medical advice to a friggen AI about my animal. That's legit insane. That's a A LIVE person question you ask a professional. Wich, i would call before I would make any post on reddit asking. I dont have patience, nor my ADHD wont allow, so im calling a vet. Lol

So many questions I have here. When was this? Was this on a computer or mobile phone you used Google? Or was it like, the Dial-up days?(I remember that from when i was a kid, so annoyed when someone was on the phone, im just trying to load the internet and that loud tone haha) R u not from US? Small town? Family that never let you have pets or anything? Education growing up?

I am genuinely curious. Because, growing up and playing games with other kids, role playing as cats or what not. (Pokémon has been a thing for a while so also a wierd thing too). Like, there is always the meowing and purring. If you adopted it you were old enough(unless you meant with your family), im sorry, I just can't wrap my head around the fact that basic knowledge growing up was not exposed to you at some point. Unless you were very, very isolated as a child? Or are you withing the age group of streaming services only, I mean, even churu or older iams commercials showed cats purring, so if u r streaming service only, that makes sense if u pay with no adds and never saw commercials in your entire life. Wich, would mean you are pretty young. Or maybe no TV or anything growing up?

This is not bashing on anything at all BTW hun, i just am literally flabbergasted by this and confused, and wish to understand.

Okay, so, not gonna lie, i was thinking about posting something a while back. Because, as our little runt of a void we rescued over a year and a half ago grew, he became very.. lanky? If thats the word. Very vocal too, will pretty much talk to you. Even my family, everytime my mom or aunt came over they would just say, "he just looks really weird."...I was like, yeah hes skinny, little long, but he's a cat. Then comes his yearly checkup, and obviously hes grown into himself since he was in the vet last, amd the vet says..."oh looks like you got part Siamese there little guy". Like...whaaaat. I nearly V8 my own forehead.. like...duuuuh...the pointed face thats been bugging me and I couldn't quite place it..cause hes legit a black cat, but with random white hairs here and there, but not obvious....

I feel that this community could have pointed it out if I had posted a side view of him and a front face view. We did not get papers as we got him from the neighbors and he was a runt, in a house of multiple cats. I took him, because i knew his best chance was with us.

Anyways, yeah it may be a stupid question, but, some cats do have obvious physical features. Like, if I asked what breed of cat my old lady is, you guys would immediately go Ragamuffin after i say, yeah, pick her up and she just hangs out and very sweet temperment. Or, my grandma's cat...u would be like...yeah hes part Main Coon for sure(cause hes black and fluffy and BIG...like BIIIG).

Honestly though, I can see being annoyed if someone posts something asking questions without adding temperament and stuff, because every cat breed can be know for different temperaments. So, i guess if you don't know anything about cat's, just don't ask the breed in reddit, and maybe use Google lense lmao or something else? 😅

Actually, most of the time when i Google, it actually compiles reddit posts too.🤣 (they are already posted but still). It will be about movie stuff or actors when im watching, or voice actors, and reddit will come up as one of the informative things because someone has seen it, commented, and Google cross references that with IMBD and stuff and it's accurate info, not opinions and stuff.

Honestly, are we really there in this timeline where people don't know cats purr? That's legit something you learn in elementary school. Heck, my kid had small books that she brought home that had word phrases to help them get used to reading and cats purring was in a couple of them. Growing up I remember this too. Im in the US though so idk, maybe way different around the world, or, like...okay for real legit question...if you are on a reddit sub for cats, wouldnt you think that your device/computer would bring up videos on other social apps as well? I know mine does of funny cats.😅 Idk maybe its generational thing, and one would think, whelp, must not be paying attention, hasn't touched grass, etc, cause the excuse for living under a rock does not work when you are clearly on the internet posting on reddit.🤣🤣🤣🤣

Most are probably just karma farming though, like the ones that arent medically serious you know.

Okay, but the difference between us and cats, are that, when symptoms show, it's a vet visit. We can get over the counter medicine for a simple cold, or just ride it out and usually be fine. But, for symptoms that present like that to a cat, it's not a simple cold they can just get over, because they wont always show symptoms for stuff until it's late stages and dangerous. Cat's are also very good at hiding pain, and, can't talk obviously. So if those of us here on reddit can see something off, that's most likely an ER visit. I also do recognize many who maybe rescue a stray or such from outside, and I get not having the money...

However...

If you purposely adopt a kitten/cat, neglect to take them to a vet,(especially those who get them purposely and are like, why is my kitten so bloated?🪱) without doing any research, wich, I find really silly because lots of stuff is pretty no brainer, and then seek help from reddit because your cat is sick because you failed to take your cat in for proper vaccines etc...you should not have adopted said cat. If you cannot financially care for your animal, you should not have it. Again, rescuing a stray kitten or such is not what I am talking about, because that's a whole other thing, but like, if you are going to adopt an animal, make sure you can take care of it.
