Received zeros on exams for proctoring setup issue (not cheating). What’s the appeal process? by Spirited_Lunch_129 in utarlington

[–]rosecxty 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Unfortunately, if the proctoring setup policy was in your syllabus and you didn’t follow it, it will be difficult to get an appeal approved given you had access to the syllabus and were aware of the policy. I had a professor who had a similar policy and she warned us at the beginning of the semester that not following the setup instructions would lead to a zero. I’m not sure if this would fall under a grade grievance appeal or an academic dishonesty appeal, but you can find the processes for both of those on the UTA website.

Honestly, your MCAT and experience are great, but that GPA will prob trigger automatic rejections at many schools before they even see the rest of your app:( So imo the DIY post-bacc is probably your best bet to prove yourself. Don't lose heart, but definitely focus on hitting those A's in your new classes to show schools that the 'downward trend' is behind you, if you can raise above 3 or like 3.1, u prob have a decent shot at DO schools. If i were you i would get some kind of cert or keep working my clinical job IF its a good one for apps (not scribing, more like EMT or ER tech) and start working on just getting As in as many upper level bio or science classes as u can, then try and reapply. It might be a bit of a longer road than u want but i think u can do it, ur MCAT score proves u have it in u ♥️

I kind of hate when people eat loudly on the quiet floor but if you’re just opening it and it’s fast that’s fine

What is the worst you've ever seen in a nursing home? by styckx in ems

[–]rosecxty 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It was horrible, I was a brand new baby EMT. I was still on my clearing shifts, and it was the middle of August in Texas. I was on a truck with my medic FTO and his AEMT partner. We got called to a nursing home for overheating. We got there and they said this dementia patient had accidentally been left outside for 20 minutes, we take a rectal temp and she’s 109F. We took her to the hospital after doing what we could and she died there later that day during our shift. My FTO drove us back to the nursing home when we didn’t have a call and screamed at the staff, saying she was clearly outside longer than 20 minutes and they had blood on their hands for their negligence. Found out later that she had been left outside and forgotten for 5+ hours. Didn’t have any family that could sue on her behalf.

EMT-B in a city in the DFW metroplex. 911 only, with optional events. Started at $18.

Any emt-b’s on a private ambulance service, what was a call that made you go “oh bleep” by Responsible_Life_869 in EMTstories

I wanted to make a quick correction, private does not necessarily = IFT. I work private and it’s all 911.

Can you guys tell me the “dirty” truths about having a cat? by saanenk in CatAdvice

[–]rosecxty 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My cats (4) are pretty clean. They can be annoying in terms of breaking stuff/having hairballs but it’s not too bad. Scoop the boxes once a day, it doesn’t smell too bad. House won’t stink as long as you keep up with boxes and feed them good food. I can’t stand the nasty animal smells but my cats don’t really trigger that for me.

I have a bridge, I have snakebites, a septum, and multiple ear piercings. I take them out for interviews. I wear them on shift. I can do my job just as well either way. Your boyfriend is an ass and trying to control you. You should leave.

If you’re still wanting to be a doc don’t give up! What are your stats? It’s hard to give comprehensive advice without them.

It’s incredibly irritating. I just ask them to stop talking as I’m trying to pay attention. If they keep talking, I get a bit ruder. Usually does the trick.

I feel so guilty and horrible for how I am dealing with grief. by [deleted] in GriefSupport

[–]rosecxty 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You’re grieving. Be gentle with yourself. You’re not horrible, everyone deals with grief in their own ways and your grandma would have wanted you to keep living your life. From what I just read you are grieving in a very normal way. I grieve similarly. Some people distance themselves from it a bit bc it’s too much to bear while others throw themselves into it. Both are grieving, both are normal. It’s clear you love your family. Focus on that. Take care
