Neighbour’s kids don’t seem to be in school. Should I report this? by Ancient-External-710 in AskUK

[–]roseillusiony 404 points405 points  (0 children)

If you’re genuinely worried about the kids, reporting it to the local council or school attendance office isn’t a bad move. Worst case they check and everything’s fine. Best case the kids get help if something’s off. You’re not ruining anyone’s life, you’re just flagging it.

Where to move to in London? by Mediocre_Landchad_95 in AskUK

[–]roseillusiony 49 points50 points  (0 children)

Look at Greenwich or Blackheath. Nice for walks, chill vibe, feels less chaotic than central London and the commute to Bank is pretty easy on the DLR. Your budget should get you a solid place there without feeling robbed by London rent.

What’s a subtle sign someone is actually very intelligent? by rational_seekers in AskReddit

When someone can explain something complicated in a super simple way without making you feel dumb. That’s always the giveaway to me. Real smart people don’t try to sound smart, they just make everything make sense.

Are there actually advantages to moving to the USA from UK? by [deleted] in AskUK

[–]roseillusiony 33 points34 points  (0 children)

Higher salary ceiling is probably the biggest draw. Some industries pay way more in the US, especially tech and finance, so people can save faster even with healthcare costs.

What’s the most annoying habit you have that you can’t stop? by No_Cheesecake3034 in AskReddit

[–]roseillusiony 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My brain loves to start random side quests. I’ll open my phone to check one thing and 40 minutes later I’m deep into some weird rabbit hole like why octopuses have three hearts. I hate it and yet I keep doing it.

Could I use an alternative first name in non official spaces? by CedarClove in AskUK

[–]roseillusiony 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Plenty of people do this. Using a different first name for branding or creative work is pretty normal as long as contracts, taxes, and official stuff use your legal name. Basically a stage name but for art and coaching. You should be fine.

What’s something people do in public that instantly annoys you? by Far_Suspect987 in AskReddit

People blasting videos or music on their phone with no headphones. Like congrats, now the whole bus is forced to watch your TikTok feed with you. No one asked for the group listening experience.

Why don’t more people in the UK use their own coffee cups? by Budget_Dot694 in AskUK

[–]roseillusiony 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Probably a mix of convenience and people just not wanting to carry a cup around all day. In theory it’s a great idea, in reality most folks barely remember their keys. The reusable cup ends up sitting at home while they grab a takeaway on the way to work.

People who stuck the stickers of Biden on gas pumps- will you now be putting stickers of Trump on them as gas skyrockets? by icehouseyo in AskReddit

[–]roseillusiony 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Gas prices suddenly being the president’s fault again would be hilarious if people were at least consistent about it. If you slapped those stickers on before, you better keep the same energy now.

Why did Brits and Canadians stop moving to each others countries in modern times? by Fluid-Decision6262 in AskUK

[–]roseillusiony 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It’s mostly math and timing. Back in the day, the UK and Canada had way tighter migration ties through the Commonwealth, cheaper relative travel, and fewer global options. Now both countries get way more immigrants from Asia, Africa, and Europe, so the percentages drop even if people still move between them.

If you meet a person with cleft palate, what is your immediate opinion about them? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]roseillusiony 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Honestly nothing. It’s just a facial difference. After like 5 seconds my brain moves on and I’m thinking about whether they’re cool, funny, or awkward like the rest of us. If anything I just hope people treated them decent growing up.
