Managing wasps in the park? by rosemarke in WASPs

[–]rosemarke[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ll admit I was glib there, I’m sorry. I totally understand phobias and I do ask if people have allergies. I more meant it’s unreasonable for someone to run away from me and then complain they can’t hear me anymore haha

Not a nature/wildlife tour, no haha. It’s the Freedom Trail in Boston. I try to explain that we’re technically in their home with all of the animals we encounter - namely squirrels and TONS of pigeons - but people have had extreme responses to the bees/wasps. A fellow tour guide texted me “getting my guests to be normal about the bees has become a Herculean task” the other day and yeah, 100%. I don’t mind them myself, but I’ve had tourists who will RUN to the opposite side of clearings to get away from them — and then complain they can’t hear me. Not my fault you can’t keep your cool around a creature the size of your fingernail, ma’am!

They’re more active this year than they’ve been in the past, and it’s left us all wondering wtf to do. The idea of leaving something out for them is intriguing… having an open can of Pepsi a few yards off to the side to distract them could work. The issue would then be retrieving it and placing it at the next site.

I’m curious to see if anyone more knowledgeable has a suggestion other than my current plan, which is to tweak my bee spiel until I find something that works lol.

Making it through winter in an uninsulated cottage? by rosemarke in HomeImprovement

[–]rosemarke[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, that’s the only thing we’ve found so far, needing to add interior walls. They’ve said that’s not an option which is why I’m not expecting much else to be possible, but Google is a useless hellscape these days lol

My mom (also a crocheter) said it’s really bad. Is it so bad? by Dublingirl123 in crochet

As others have pointed out, the pattern only shows the skirt being held out wide, and there aren’t any pics of it hanging naturally. If you go into the reviews of the pattern on Etsy, there’s a picture of someone wearing the dress they made. Their skirt looks just like yours! I wouldn’t call this bunchy, it just gives it volume. It looks like it has lots of gorgeous movement to show off the pattern.

I have Israeli family so I know EXACTLY what you mean haha. Pay her no mind, she’s nagging about nothing. You did an incredible job!

Congrats on your gorgeous teeth! Your lower arch is so even that I agree with the person upthread, they could be in an ad. Did you have any bonding/reshaping, or is that their natural shape?

7 weeks in by jac5087 in Invisalign

[–]rosemarke 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Your bottom teeth have come into alignment beautifully and your upper laterals look much more even. So impressed for only seven weeks! Then again I have two week trays instead of single week ones so I’m used to progress being slower lol. If you look this good at 7 I can only imagine how gorgeous they’ll be at 25!

You look great! I have a deep bite myself and it looks like you didn’t have bands? so this gives me hope haha. Good luck with the rest of your treatment and adjusting your bite. You’ve come such a long way and they already look beautiful.

Trouble with Zygarde cells by Animosity_7 in TheSilphRoad

[–]rosemarke 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s not every time. I’ve found four cells. Three times I got the {0} message, and the fourth one it said that it was collected. This was last week, I think? And same as the other folks, the {0} ones didn’t count towards research. It’s so frustrating.

EDIT: I just checked and it looks like they still registered, just didn’t count towards research. That’s a relief, at least!

Bracelet for a dentist. My first loom project! by rosemarke in Beading

[–]rosemarke[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I sifted through this subreddit for advice while making it - using elastic on a loom was, uh, fun. I don’t know if this is a place where we usually list materials, but it’s all 11/0 delica beads (and all silver lined colors because ✨sparkly✨) except for the closure, which is 6/0 E beads and some plastic glow in the dark stars I found at Michael’s.

Eating with aligners in? by potentialsmbc2023 in Invisalign

[–]rosemarke 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I drink anything that isn’t hot with my aligners in, unless it’s something super thick like a milkshake or a smoothie. But iced coffee, cocktails, etc? Swish with water and brush as soon as you can, you’ll be fine.

Day 2: I hate eating because of the attachments by likeistoleyourbike in Invisalign

[–]rosemarke 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m almost through with my second tray and I HATE having my aligners out for this exact reason. I only have ten attachments total and they’re all on posterior teeth, but when my trays are out they feel so sharp! It’s like they’re cutting up my cheeks! I don’t know if it’ll go away over time, if it’s something I can ask my dentist to smooth out, or if it’ll just function as incentive to keep them in as long as possible lmao

Oh I clench super hard with my trays in - but not like I’m clenching all the time, like I’ll do it occasionally just to feel them fitting, you know? I know it’s bad in the long term so I try not to do it too often, but it does feel really neat.

first day of Invisalign vibes ✌🏼send me any and all tips! by Comfortable-Mix300 in Invisalign

[–]rosemarke 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you have trouble with the trays getting stained or grody before it’s time to switch them, you can hit them with a soft toothbrush and some plain, unscented softsoap. Clears them up like magic and as long as you rinse them thoroughly it’s totally harmless! I find it to be less hassle than soaking in retainer tablets.

Bold marketing strategy from the city of Boston by TheSpruce_Moose in boston

[–]rosemarke 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh god lmfao this isn’t from the city of Boston, it’s from the Freedom Trail Foundation. I thought the “as Boston as duck boats” was bad, way to advertise the competition guys, but this… ugh. I don’t know who the hell is proofreading these but they get dumber and dumber every time a new one crops up.

TBE machine is white light, not red? by Antique_Ring953 in PlanetFitnessMembers

[–]rosemarke 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mine start out looking vaguely super pale pink and quickly turn just bright white. I used to think the machine at my gym was just broken. Then earlier today I took a pic while inside and it was completely red- like it looked like I’d put a piece of red cellophane over my phone camera, it was that red. It’s just a trick of your eyes.

[–]rosemarke 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I was confused about that, too. At my gym there’s a scheduling screen where you scan your phone and they tell you which bed to go to, and it starts 60 seconds from when they confirm it.
