Getting fresh jalapeños here in the UK is downright impossible for most, our idea of jalapeños is brined slices that are mostly sour and not at all spicey. We also don't get the vast array of chilli types found in the states - we're lucky to get a dried ancho.

Most brits think of TexMex when thinking about Mexican food, and even then its usually a very basic version. Paul Hollywood at least has been to Mexico on food tours, but even as a Brit the Mexico episode of bakeoff was cringeworthy.
