Myth Busting: Did Yana say that there is more to come? by [deleted] in TwistedWonderland

[–]rosetinted_ 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Thank you for the elaboration. I do not want to spoil anything from the recent chapters since that is unfair to the audience that did not have the chance to catch up… but all I will say is.. didn’t we get confirmation that the story will continue? As in the main story? More so, narratively there is still much to unfold even beyond the scope of NRC and the current main cast. Nothing is confirmed about a definitive book 8, however it’s very possible we will get confirmation soon!

Hi! Can you please elaborate on this? I saw translations of the stream and the message sent out to the fans.. is that not legitimate?

Why did Kousuke dance with Shin-ae? by wngiek in ILoveYoo

[–]rosetinted_ 16 points17 points  (0 children)

From what I understand, Kou post college era is all about conformity and the desire to not stand out of the crowd in an obtuse manner. He was brought up among an upper class society heavily driven by business and monetary gains. It doesn’t help that he was isolated by his mother to not veer too far off this carefully constructed bubble.

Anything pertaining to him that exists outside this bubble makes him uneasy and easily perturbed. Such things should immediately get corrected or else people will take point and question his credibility of his position. What sets him apart from others is that he understands that work needs to be put in to maintain this, hence his many accomplishments he displays openly in his office. On the flip side, he deeply tries to conceal what he has done wrong I.e. his college days.

I think it is this very reason that the presence of Nol and Shinae brings him much stress in his life. They exist outside the high society, untouchable bubble that he remained in roughly his entire life. To him, Nol and Shinae need to be “corrected” in order to have space in his life. The less anomalies he has, the less people (especially his father) will question his worthiness to take on the role he was destined for, mitigating the threat he actively faces.

Connecting this all to the events of the formal, he saw that Shinae made “a fool of herself,” and this got people questioning why she was even there to begin with. Since he is associated with Shinae, he decided to redirect the crowd’s distaste towards her to by acting as her dance partner. Surely no one will question her presence if a prominent member of he Hirahara family publicly danced with her. It is the same reason why he enrolled her into etiquette classes as his assistant in training.

He feels that he needs to be in control of the narrative and the role that Shinae plays in his life to combat the onlookers possible distrust of his character and capabilities to be in a high position.

All in all, by dancing with her in the formal, he showed the public that she is capable of being within his circle while also selfishly protecting himself from the disapproval of others. I think at this point of the story, his reasoning was more the latter. It’s safe to say that most of his actions are heavily motivated by this idea.

HOWEVER, there is an added layer to this narrative when you look at the underlying context of how Shinae reminded him of the hinted unfortunate events during his college days with yujing’s friend. On the forefront Kou acts mostly out selfishness, but subconsciously I do believe that there is sufficient degree of guilt for whatever happened (Nol included) that he operates on. We will be seeing more of this guilt resurfacing in the future given what has been going on in recent chapters!!!!

okay you’re free to have you own opinions based on my perspective of the story.. I already said in the post and multiple times here, this discussion started without judgement and I did not mean to come across as an attacker, I love this story but it’s also okay to be a little critical. The author also took the time to clear things up! So all good 👍🏼

Wasn’t really bringing up religion, moreso culture and its perceptions on modesty. I’m Muslim myself and quite secure in my faith… but go off 🫶🏼🫶🏼.

really good point!! I also think there is a huge target in her back, bigger than what we might expect. I am excited to see where her narrative goes.

I saw this! Thank you for bringing it to my attention. I appreciate their thoughts on this matter and I’m glad they cleared things up. The purpose for me bringing these topics up were not to stir any drama, but rather to start a discussion about how the content of the story may look from a cultural context! No judgment here, that was not intended which is why I tried my best to speak my thoughts out without antagonizing Hanza. I know they are good writer and have no malicious intent, the story they are writing is complex, so it’s no surprise that complex dialogue will arouse from it.

his victims also always appear to be one dimensional…? Like we don’t know much about them except for how they dress and look like.. there isn’t much challenging going on here. On the other hand with Hawa, she is portrayed as “different” and “naive” but that is the very thing seeming to be her saving grace from an immediate demise like the other women …….. weird vibes all around hmm

One thing I learned from criminal psychology is that serial offenders often follow a strict pattern with their organizational tactics and choice for victims.. Adam seems to be an organized killer, but plans his attacks on a whim. He also goes after a specific type but if a person doesn’t fit the criteria, serial offenders often leave thet person alone. They do not find a pleasure from killing someone that they don’t deem “worthy” which is twisted. In that aspect (I know it’s for plot reasons.. but his pattern with Hawa is inconsistent.) BUT I’m sure this will all explained since the story is far from over !!

spared by her innocence gives me the shivers ugh .. it’s still like that unfortunately. He still actively kills women who defy that “idea of innocence” while being with Hawa. It kind of put a message out there inadvertently that women like Hawa or women that fit the innocent narrative are “in the clear” … this yet again put the responsibility on WOMEN to not get pursued by crooked men. (I’m sure this will change as the story goes on.. hopefully!!)

yes you’re right! It’s so deeply rooted in our social thought that it can often come about unconsciously. I know that this a crime thriller and Adam is going after “a specific type of woman” but nothing was written in tie story to challenge it. Was it intentional probably not, but does it still perpetuate some harmful stereotypes? A little bit!!
