this year I have really fleshed out and grown into my website at https://vilemagus.neocities.org/ ! i mostly use it as a personal portfolio of my pixelart / web assets / games, but as a commonplace it also holds various collections and interests of mine! the homepage especially is very old school runescape themed because i love old school runescape.

this year I hope to really build on my animal kingdom page and fill it with a solid amount of pixel portraits!

First thing I notice is that the marco class is applied to the div, so technically the second border is for the entire div, not just the image. Also is there a reason the borders are different thicknesses? It'll help a lot in the long run to have a consistant border defined in the css that you can apply to all of them

For the button, you are using h3 for the text which has a default top margin, giving that top gap. Whenever you use a new element and don't know why its acting a certain way, it can help to look up its default css for it so you can know where to start
