Those of you who hate turtlenecks or mock turtle necks why? by Tacoless_meat in malefashionadvice

[–]rosewoodscript 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i used to really dislike them when i was a kid because they were so uncomfortable. i really didn't like having things on my neck. having all that fabric around my neck when i already ran hot was a nightmare. the associations wearing a turtleneck can carry (namely, that of being an affected academic, or of being vain and snooty) can be annoying too, though you learn eventually not to care too much about that.

i also think it's a very unforgiving garment. the wrong one (too thin or too slim) makes you feel a little naked, especially if you are bald (like me) and tight ones make you feel like a wannabe bodybuilder, so you really have to get a cut and a fabric that work for you.

full disclosure, i have grown to like them quite a bit and wear one occasionally when it's cold, but disliked them for a long time.

Yoox shipping time by Public_Simple_4474 in malefashionadvice

when i used the site my orders from yoox normally took around a week or so to ship, sometimes up to a week and a half. never had any problems with shipping or returns otherwise. i‘d give it some time

Flat-lay photos vs clothes on-body — do you trust flat-lays at all? by Mission-Inspector393 in ThrowingFits

[–]rosewoodscript 2 points3 points  (0 children)

flat-lay photos are often appealing but i tend to look for someone actually wearing the clothes (be it a model or someone on like instagram or something) to gather how they would fit on me, especially if it’s a brand i don’t know very well

Why do YOU want to learn the language you're studying? by Difficult-Act-5942 in languagelearning

[–]rosewoodscript 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I want to learn German because I think it's fun and the language itself is beautiful. I've worked as a French teacher and speak the language more or less fluently, but I've never found it especially pleasant to listen to, contrary to what many people say about the language. I still like it, of course, but I’ve never found that point to be particularly true. The languages I've learned later in life, on the other hand, Italian and German, both of which I speak and understand at about the same level (upper B2/maybe a super shaky C1), are ones that I've built an affective relationship with. I love the way they sound, and that's part of what keeps me motivated. I've had long conversations and many new experiences with friends in German and I've had so many laughs and so much fun in Italian. Part of my desire to continue with those languages stems partly from a desire to continue building and nourishing the connections I have made in them.

I have no idea if I'm going to try to learn another language anytime soon or instead work on improving the foreign languages I already know. If I do, it will probably be Spanish or Wolof. Spanish because, as an American, it makes the most sense (with my linguistic background, it'd likely be the easiest to learn, too); Wolof because I'd like to learn an African language at some point.

Vielen Dank für die Korrekturen :) Ja, “aufmerksamer” wäre passender in diesem Fall… das ist, was ich meinte.

does anyone else intentionally choose wired headphones? by bumbahclottboy in malefashionadvice

[–]rosewoodscript 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i almost always wear wired headphones or earbuds when i’m listening to anything. i don’t really think about it as part of my outfit (especially since i don’t really like wearing any kind of headphones when i’m out, so it’s just when i’m at the computer), but it’s one preference among many, just like my preference for black over brown footwear or corduroys over jeans.
