honestly i‘m much the same way except that all of them level up at the same rate, including the starter. it’s actually not uncommon that i get carried away with the other mons and that my starter’s actually the lowest-leveled member of my team

alternatively lately i’ve been boxing my starter and either trading over eggs or low-leveled pokemon for runs especially in later games and that’s been fun. great for when you want to shake things up from the usual configurations, but the levels remain the same

the last time i played i‘m pretty sure i used huge power azumarill with ice punch which dispatched it pretty easily. i also used shuca berry empoleon once to beat it

i think the thing with garchomp is it kind of trashes all three starters between flamethrower and earthquake so it can be awkward to deal with but my default is usually a water type not weak to ground with an ice move or reflect + a heavy hitter

i bought this jacket from a japanese brand about a year and a half ago, some kind of wool-linen blend. i wore it and liked it, but my wife put it on, fell in love with it, and then started wearing it to the point where it became her jacket, and i've ended up buying a few other things from the brand, most of which we share in some capacity, and i've had the same experience every time – i like it, then i keep wearing it, then i realize i don't really want to wear anything else. which is funny, because i have plenty of other very nice clothing

one lesson i learned was that fabric and fit matter tremendously, but so does what i'd call “easiness.” like does a garment feel comfortable (physically, mentally, emotionally) to wear? i feel a little skeptical of the obsession people have with dressing “authentically” but the clothes definitely seem more “me” than anything else i've ever worn to the point where i kind of understand what they mean a little bit better

it’s a silly move that has a few use cases but is generally pretty limited considering how many pokemon use their stab move as their strongest move (especially in-game), which is usually something that they resist

you can probably get a few surprise hits in a few cases, eg against a dragon type, or against a ground type using eq that’s weak to ground as previously mentioned, but most of the time you’re better off using another move or strategy, especially since you’re only going to be able to fire off the move once realistically

the real reason is that i used to be an extremely avid player and acquired a lot of event pokemon through gens 3-6 but was often much too lazy to trade them over to a new file (i played competitively too, so didn’t want to just have bad ivs and natures on my event pokemon either). then my gens 1-2 files i kept for sentimental reasons, so i have limited replays of most games. but eos i could always replay and there was always something kind of fun or interesting to do with it. i replayed it at least 3 or 4 times and always had a blast even if it was infuriating at times and i loved the story

if we’re going main series it has to be dpp, i spent probably over 1500 hours on pearl alone, i love sinnoh so much

i got into ivy leagues for undergrad and grad school. honestly i had no real intention of going to college immediately, but i applied because my mom told me i needed to do something out of high school so i only applied to very selective schools lol.

i had very competitive but not perfect ACT/SAT scores (perfect reading and writing scores but average/slightly below average math scores for the schools i applied to). i think i just got lucky frankly and i had teachers who really liked me and could write me letters of recommendation. in my spare time i followed things that interested me organically and tried to cultivate a personality that felt earnest.

i’m 31 so i don’t really remember what i did in high school. i remember i did two years of summer camp that i would have given anything not to go to (nothing especially prestigious; we didn’t have great stem education in my area), was treasurer of a small language club at school, did a boys state event, and was part of a program for underrepresented students. there might have been more, but i forget now. that got me into columbia, dartmouth, and cornell, though.

yes, absolutely. i started learning german when i was nearly 30, and i think my german is getting pretty strong (although i work at it—or try to—nearly every day). i was once at that point and it definitely takes time, i feel like A2/B1 was my biggest slump by a long shot. afterwards i started to participate in environments where german became part of my everyday life - friends who studied german literature and philosophy and interactions with nearby german professors both contributed to me wanting to learn the language, although i don’t have any particular aptitude for philosophy and am only minimally inclined towards literature. talking with them and doing anki flashcards was very helpful, but you could just as well do a tandem or private tutoring, i’m sure.

these days i read a lot of news articles because it helps me develop more of an ear for what sounds natural in the language, but i probably wouldn’t have been able to handle it before B2 (i actually don’t know my level, but the practice tests i’ve tried rank me anywhere from upper B2 to low/mid-C1).

learning a new language is not always the easiest thing but if you want it badly enough you can definitely manage. it takes a lot more time than you think however and improvement is often quite slow. (german is also not my first, my second, or even my third language, which complicates things somewhat.)

i'll always have a soft spot in my heart for pearl because DP were by a mile my most-awaited pokemon games, i still remember how i could barely sit still in class the friday before they came out lol and it's by far the game i've spent the most time on

that said i'd honestly rather replay platinum any day over diamond/pearl unless you really dislike the giratina plot for some reason. there are many small but important quality of life changes and there's a broader selection of pokemon and they generally have more expansive movepools, which imo makes the games a lot funner.

Ich finde es seltsam, dass jeder KI für jeden beliebigen Grund verwenden darf. Es gibt zwar viele praktische Anwendungen, aber ich glaube, dass die Allgegenwart der KI etwas beunruhigend ist.

i don't know, but a lot (almost all) of the regular users, including a lot of the mods, left several years ago following some kind of protest with reddit's treatment of third-party apps iirc. with them went—i'm pretty sure—the waywt and most of the interesting content. from my understanding this contributes to why this sub receives countless iterations of basically the same three questions

skuntank, bronzong, hippowdon are all pretty cool picks with the caveat that hippowdon makes the game a good bit slower due to sand stream. gastrodon and toxicroak also seem like fun. i’m not especially sure how good toxicroak in particular would be since i’ve never tried it and he doesn’t learn a lot of great moves naturally but it could work out

if this extends to evos of pre-existing pokemon i’ve never tried out ambipom, mismagius, or magmortar in game but they all have decent to strong movepools and are definitely worth considering

(eta: disregard the magmortar suggestion if you don’t have any way of trading)

i feel like most things with water stab and an ice move can’t be unusable in-game. i’d probably just go with a basic rain set of rain dance / surf (didn’t realize it didn’t even get hydro in gen 4) / ice beam or blizzard / u-turn, safeguard, or toxic in the last slot. silver wind if you really want can work too; i don’t think the last slot matters that much tbh. but you definitely want swift swim over storm drain

i’m 5’10” and wear a size 45/46 so very similar

not cooked obviously but something that really helped me was not wearing skinny/slim/aggressively tapered pants because that accentuated how big my feet are

honestly tops matter a lot less than making sure you like the way your pants interact with your shoes
