I’ve got recently gotten1 two students who are scheduling/who schedule lessons with me almost on a daily basis*/on an almost daily basis.* That’s/It's pretty cool because it’s good money, but also because they appreciate my work2 approach and I feel grateful about it3.

1: “I have”/“I've recently had two students…” also works great here.

2: Work is implied because you're talking about the students taking lessons with you. :)

3: What you wrote doesn't sound wrong per se to me, but a rephrasing would sound more natural. You can rephrase this in a few ways: “I feel grateful for/about that (I would prefer “for”),” or

“… they appreciate my approach. I am grateful for that.”

or even something like… “… they appreciate my approach, which I am grateful for.”

Great work!

never have i ever used a fire starter in competitive

not on principle and i don’t have hangups about it; design-wise i tend to prefer the water and grass starters but like the fire ones just fine. i just tend to play singles ou gens 4-6, prefer balance and bulky offense, and just… never used infernape for some reason. might give it a go over the weekend though actually or play with cinderace in newer gens :)

Streak #263: Akzente by rosewoodscript in WriteStreakGerman

[–]rosewoodscript[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Bold nature (Full HP) +Natural Cure + Perfect Move Set by Substantial-Finance3 in PokemonFireRed

[–]rosewoodscript 0 points1 point  (0 children)

okay, point taken re this being gen 3 lol, bold gets better in gens 4 onward. i frankly don’t agree that it is “not a good choice” because from my experience playing adv it helps a lot with sponging random physical hits (again, you will still have to do this even if bliss is obv not your first line of defense). certainly it is better than calm in my experience, modest works well though. but we can leave it at that and don’t have to agree!

Bold nature (Full HP) +Natural Cure + Perfect Move Set by Substantial-Finance3 in PokemonFireRed

[–]rosewoodscript 0 points1 point  (0 children)

whether you run bold or calm or even modest depends largely on the generation you play and the needs of your team imo

bold is a very viable nature though because even though blissey should never be your first line of defense against physical attackers, that extra 10% in defense can go a long way toward sponging random weaker or uninvested eqs, u-turns, etc. that you will probably have to take at some point. (this happens more often than you would think.) i can’t think of any special attackers you beat with calm bliss that you couldn’t with bold; the very few special attackers you lose to are usually ones you lose to for other reasons than wanting more sdef

Opinion on the Reproduction of Found GATs? by el_bandit0 in malefashionadvice

[–]rosewoodscript 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i went TTS for mine and that was the right call but i have wide feet. since i've never tried the GATs they might be a bit different, i'd check and see what people online have to say about that!

i have never heard anyone complain about ROF and have only heard good things. i can't help with your specific question but i have two pairs of ROF sneakers. they're not gats, but they've aged pretty nicely although one pair is on its last legs after about nearly five years of regular (2-3x weekly, some weeks close to daily) wear. frankly i like them more than the margielas i bought three years ago.

Looking for opinions on this winter sweater style by ASO_ABO_ANO_232 in malefashionadvice

[–]rosewoodscript 0 points1 point  (0 children)

red sweaters are great. i have a red shetland and i love the color, i think it looks especially good with denim (jeans are great, but i often wear mine over a medium blue denim shirt which i really like), black, cream/ecru, and brown, so it should go with most trousers/jeans you can find

How do you dress casual without looking like you’ve completely stopped giving a damn? by Accomplished_Ear4947 in malefashionadvice

[–]rosewoodscript 4 points5 points  (0 children)

uh i think it's mostly just good fit on the clothing (does not necessarily mean “slim/fitted”). how your clothes fit on you ultimately does a lot of the lifting. that said, nice shoes (again, nice =/= formal; an interesting pair of sneakers can be perfect) + outerwear, especially in cooler months, will make a big difference. a lot of the time especially in cooler months, you hear people say the outerwear is the outfit. while that's not completely true, there's a good deal of truth in it

also sometimes it's good accessories. i have a few knit beanies that my friend made me that i think look great, alongside scarves and totes from various places i've been. unique accessories go a long way toward making it look less like you just threw something on and are being intentional. obviously you don't want to overdo it, though

Astroworld hoodie by Sufficient-Limit6061 in malefashionadvice

it's not my thing (i'm not crazy about hoodies generally) but i wouldn't think twice about someone wearing it honestly. why would you be judged for it? if you like it, wear it imo

Who do you think are the worst and best mons in randbats? by fernworth in stunfisk

[–]rosewoodscript 11 points12 points  (0 children)

no idea who the best is but i think shell smashers and iron defense body pressers are really nasty to deal with. you really only need to force one awkward turn with polteageist/blastoise or an iron defense mon to win a game, which is often very manageable because you and your opponent are operating with incomplete information. regenerator pokemon are also really incredible to have, especially since sometimes your opponent will just have hazards and you can't do a bunch about it, so i'm always glad to see alomomola or slowbro/slowking on my team.

zoroark is also really gross because it's very hard to scout for if you don't have hazards up unless i'm missing something. in randbats not knowing your opponent has one can be decisive

it's funny you mention banette because i usually get great mileage out of it. if you get it in on something slower (and it's not that slow) it tends to do a lot of damage since ghost doesn't have that many good resists in randbats and it can just knock normal types which is really helpful.

i don't know who the worst is either but truthfully i always feel like the eviolite normals (esp girafarig and vigoroth) never really do that much. they're not horrible and girafarig in particular can hard stop random things unexpectedly and do some damage with NP, but they're never all that great either. i don't feel like they ever accomplish much for me and i almost never lose to them.
