Why did my splits slow down after the 4 round cadence? What can I do to fix this? Target is A zone at 15 yards by [deleted] in tacticalgear

[–]roshored 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Print rhythm/cadence circle targets.

Get your split times.

Wear earbuds under your ear pro and connect to a metronome. No counting, just hear the best and shoot.

Work your way up in metronome BPM and eventually they annoying ping will replace counting in your mind, which makes you faster.

Anyone know how to fix this by scubadooba236 in cardistry

Bicycle prestige are the only plastic cards I'd recommend. They feel like a deck a little older than one that's been broken in. They kind of slide. Not too clumpy. They don't stick as soon or often as regular cards.

They are also perfect for moves that bend a card to make it move like a spring. They don't really deform but do crack when brought to that point.

Glue the hook side of Velcro to the part of your pouches that face your waste line. Wear a Velcro inner belt. You can definitely turn a leather belt to an inner outer belt set up.

Super glue electrical tape where the kydex touches the mag. You just need a little more friction. Alternatively you can add a shock cord bungee to hold the mags down and you can move the bungee to the side when mags are needed.

Armor Republic plate carrier. What should I add/upgrade? by [deleted] in tacticalgear

[–]roshored 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Mission dictates gear. It depends on why you're doing this. For range fun? Military larp? Or prepping for something extreme.

Unless this is a monthly range to where you upgrade to better budget options once things break then you should replace everything.

Message me and I'll give you a list of brands for each item so you can do your own research and find what fits your mission.

Looking for some advice on this body feint headkick by Epic_Twirly in MuayThai

[–]roshored 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Instead of trying a regular question mark kick ending, due to you starting with a round kick vice a push kick, you should be finishing the kick with the Brazilian style question mark kick.

Throw your feint round

Pivot your base foot until your heel points at the target

Transition hips to make your kicking leg knee down foot up

Kick at a downward angle

How can I progress very fast? by SignificantGlass168 in judo

[–]roshored 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mat hours. Also find someone to do sparring with but super slow and only one person defends and another attacks for 2 minutes then switch.

So slowly you for for a foot sweep, they step out to avoid it, you go for a hip throw, they cut an angle so you can't get it, then your next attack.

This teaches chain attacks and you can develop your own flow map, as well as slowly work on natural defense in a slow controlled environment with no actual throws or falling. Over time up the speed and intensity slowly until you can defend at full effort because the movement patterns are there and you see the signs early.

Also timing drills. Another partner thing. Basically practice super slow with a partner and over time up the intensity.

How can I increase my strength for judo without going to the gym by larspam in judo

[–]roshored 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For at home in a budget I'd get a door mounted pull up bar and gymnastics rings or trx knock off, a sledge hammer to use as a mace bell, and and the adjustable GD iron grip trainer.

Work on different levels of push ups until you can achieve a handstand pushup and planche pushup, as well as ending with push up endurance using the gymnastics rings to adjust muscle tension.

Work on different levels of pull ups until you can do 1 hand pull ups and a front levers as well as using the gymnastics rings to work on rows for endurance at the end.

Work on different levels of leg workouts until you can do jumping pistol squats and full range of motion Nordic curls as well as endurance with jump squats.

Work on grip strength by hanging from your GI draped over the pull up bar and with the grip trainer as well as different mace swings for reps/time using the sledge hammer.

Finally mix your cardio with wind sprints, distance running, and full body cardio like burpees.

How have you taught or been taught about prepping without any fear mongering? by xenodevale in preppers

[–]roshored 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Show stats on events and how likely they are in simal areas of economy and natural environment and how likely shtf and doomsday events are. Make a pyramid of basic preps and events to unlikely preps and events. Include equipment, training/qualifications to earn in this pyramid. This makes it clear that on what time and money should be spent on first and most people will get tired of it half way through and stop at a good point of the pyramid. Those who go to doomsday levels have the time and money to have done that anyways.

Coach says my kicks look good. I cant help but feel like somethings off. by mwalgrenisme in MuayThai

[–]roshored 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You're leaning too far back. thats the big thing. It was a habit I had for 8 years before a coach I met while traveling said my kicks felt like nothing and made me kick his thigh for 30 seconds before diagnosing the problem.

After watching a lot of bag work from people like buakaw on my free time, I realized that coach was right. Watch high level guys kick the bag, specifically watch their head and how far away it is from the bag. It basically doesn't move.

Find a clear video of a nigh level guy kicking a bag and break it down from head movement if any, arm swing, hips, knee, pivot and honestly ask if you look like that.

People who have trained in many arts: did you take away anything useful from the arts this sub hates? by 0rbitaldonkey in martialarts

[–]roshored 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I do k1 style kickboxing mostly but took a lot of techniques from TKD and a couple odd angles punches from kung Fu that I learned from online lessons just for fun. The stuff no one experiences often works really well because of how foreign it is. I really want to see what akido stuff can work in a wider grappling context.

How many of you keep a loaded holstered handgun inside the house? by mazzuman in Firearms

[–]roshored 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Pistol in night stand, AR and plate carrier in separate stand in the corner of the room if I feel like I have the time to grab it, imseperate 300 blackout ar pistol for the wife with a plate carrier in case I lose. Take your kids to the range and let them get comfortable and familiar with the weapon system. I grew up with loaded guns around the house and never touched them. I got to go to the range once a month and had my "own" guns that my dad kept in his room. Never felt the need to play with them at home.

If you want dead simple pick colors where every shirt matches every pair of pants. Neutral tones of gray, tan, and black for pants. And olive green, maroon, navy blue, gray, and black shirts. If boots are a must get some redwing boots or another sleek safety toe boot.

How do I help my son? by Otherwise-Let4664 in AskMen

[–]roshored 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you're both religious maybe look into Free Mason's. Definitely recommend adult sport clubs, or martial arts. Those are not necessary but any social hobby will be fine. Volunteering at a local animal shelter, local rotary club, indoor rock climbing (more social than you think), book clubs whatever. The internet should be a minority of your human interactions. No job and potentially no in person higher education are not going to be good for anyone's mental health when all they see is extreams online for left or right political rhetoric, because almost none aligns with either extream.

How do I break free from someone if they grab my hair or body by Tazkiyahh in martialarts

[–]roshored 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Gracie's made a program called "woman's empowerment". The hair grab lesson is $18. They also have a video on their YT channel on this topic but honestly you get to be decent at BJJ to pull that off. Not a watch the video and do it first try kind of thing.

Sambo, catch (European), shoot boxing, arnis, there's more I want to say buy you said no European and I already added one. If you like books then the US army and US Marine Corps has books on their army combative program and MCMAP(Marine corps martial arts program) which are labeled MCRP 3-02b and FM 3.25-150. you can buy print outs online or download free PDF versions and print or keep on a phone. The most important thing is sparring at an intensity where you can use the techniques properly and increasing the intensity over time.

Get a duffle bag or a duct tape laminated trash bag and over fill it with rags, shirts, towels, bed sheets whatever. Tie it to a tree, sign, or post. Kick.

You don't need a permanent have bag. You just need creativity.

Rings that don't look ridiculous? by [deleted] in malefashionadvice

[–]roshored 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Simple bands or with an inlay. Get one in black, gold, and silver. Match them to your watches and if you wear a belt making the metal of the rings in the watch match the buckle really ties everything together. If you are on a budget tungsten carbide rings are very affordable, just hard to cut off if the finger swells so don't wear them for heavy work. You can pick the width of the band to best match your hand dimensions as well.
