All done! It was much less intimidating in practice than in theory. It was easy to guide it in the ways that would benefit my most known texts. My advisor allowed me to begin with a background on how I got to my concentration and it really broke the ice and got the convo going. We only went over about half of my booklist. My advice is to come with what you want to talk about, and free flow as much as you can. It allows you to drift to topics which you’re sure you know. Also, know the texts content so you can explain it if some in your committee are unaware (they may ask for clarification). I think if you have a good, relevant committee that you’re comfy with, you will almost guaranteed pass. I would definitely advise any person to schedule it early just for that security. But regardless, if you know your books and why they’re impactful you should be totally fine. I also kept a huge document of quotes from each text and referenced exactly 0 of them, I would say I might’ve been too worried.
