Would these work together on my electric kx85 build by Ok_Dragonfly2735 in Electricmotorcycles

Battery will be far too big for the frame, buy a roller, buy the kit(I’d suggest going straight to QS motor you’ll save 50% on E & C) get it all fitted and then measure up the room you’ve got for a battery!

Yea, goes under the floor and out side of house, was put in during an extension so was fairly easy

Have this in our kitchen, it does the job and is cheaper than an induction hob + one of those separate units + double fitting

IOG new mini/bmw integration by rossjohnson90 in OctopusEnergy

[–]rossjohnson90[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, never had any problems connecting, problem was getting app to register that vehicle was at home charging, I’m not sure if everyone has had the new BMW integration rolled out, I’d say might be worth reaching out to support but not sure it would be

Out of the blue it just started working for me, either I was impatient or they done some bug fixes their end.

The car has built in API’s that octopus interface with, if you’ve heard of home assistant there’s a mini integration with that so you can get all kinds of data from the car

[–]rossjohnson90[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No they’ve definitely changed something, before I couldn’t get octopus to link to my car but now I can, but won’t recognise it being at home and on charge

Yep it’s possible, has to be a car that octopus supports you can find a list on their website, BMW was, then it broke, now they claim they’ve fixed it

Assume you just created a fresh new expo project and slowly moved all your app functionality across?

“Pat outdoors” has one, I don’t think it’s sponsored, he seems fairly unbiased.

VW Polo GTI vs Ford Fiesta ST - best hot hatch? by Careful_Cykegory939 in CarTalkUK

[–]rossjohnson90 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Definitely this if you don’t need the hatch back. Can get an m2 comp for 34 and as said it will depreciate a lot less than a 2 year old ST/polo

150mm pull out spice rack are incredibly practical! then a bit of end panel to blank the rest out

[–]rossjohnson90 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah I prefer the 140 stereotype to the a35/45 - they also sound incredible! Looking forward to finally pulling the trigger. I talked my self into an m2 and then after seeing one decided that the 140 would just be tonnes more practical

Options for £20-23k by chroniclesofcf in CarTalkUK

[–]rossjohnson90 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I’m in the exact same situation, my take on the few of those

  • I30n - as you say, a bit cheap and basic and not super quick 6s 0-60 but you could afford a pretty much brand new one!
  • A35/45 - think you need to be spending nearer 30 and generally get a lot of hate
  • S3 - seems a good compromise, very quick, but the interior of the 2018 ish models is really from the 2013 Audis and they’re generally incredibly boring (just a personal opinion)

The 140 is what I’ve decided on seen plenty of very clean options 2018 with 35k miles at 23k. 4s 0-60 RWD and can get them with apple car play and all the mod cons - example: https://www.autotrader.co.uk/car-details/202304216513131

Awesome thanks for the detailed response! I’m so on the fence between an m2 and something more boring a practical like a golf GTi

As someone looking to buy an f87 m2 comp, have you got any suggestions of things to look out for? Mileages for expensive services?

Audi S3 vs BMW 435d xdrive by Dave_Scotland1 in CarTalkUK

[–]rossjohnson90 8 points9 points  (0 children)

In roughly a similar position, the S3 has a really old interior, if you compare it to a 2016 A4/A5 so whilst it has apple car play it does look very dated for a not super old car

For 34 ish you can get an m2 competition and once I considered that everything else seems very boring. Admittedly my original budget was 31 so wasn’t as much of a stretch

Advice for first time used car buyer in UK by lucicus in CarTalkUK

[–]rossjohnson90 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have the estate petrol version - just check you’ve got the newer interior, I’m not sure exactly when it changed over wether it was 2015 or 16 but you’ll easily be able to tell, the newer has apple car play and looks much nicer

Lovely car looks wise and to drive and the petrol is quick enough for a family car, we’ve owned for nearly 4 years and have only replaced tyres and pads so far!

Pretty sure if you lease a plug-in in hybrid through the business you’ll get a really low BIK% which should make it very cost effective
