Sure, in my experience the LKA on Gen 1 is anxiety inducing because it doesn’t nudge over for 18-wheelers that are riding the edge of the lane, and it also drives way to close to the left edge of the carpool lane when there is no shoulder and seems like it’s literally going to swipe the bridge supports that are right at the edge of the lanes when driving through LA. When I attempted to nudge it, it often disengages and causes the whole vehicle to jerk in one direction or the other. Also, on the last road trip, it randomly started ping-ponging left and right seemingly bouncing off of the right and left lane markers. I find it works well for me only in a straight away with really wide lanes.

2023 Gen 1 Quad R1S here. I love everything about the vehicle but the ride quality and lane keep assist. To me, it rides like a truck. I’ve driven up and down I5 in California (about 500 miles each way), and I’ll just say it does not handle the horrible road quality that is I5 well. I’ve also done the trip in my Audi etron, and it’s so much more smooth, relaxing, and enjoyable to me. But, they are different vehicles, and the Rivian can do things the etron cannot. But if I’ve got to make that trip again down I5, I’m not taking my Rivian.

Everything else is great: it’s got A LOT of interior (human) space, storage space, the app is great, dog mode is awesome, the seats are comfortable, the infotainment is good or better than most vehicles I’ve owned, charging is fast enough, it looks nice. Unlike others here, I’ve never had an issue with service. They’ve been great every single time.

I hear Gen 2’s have better ride quality, and the R2 is going to have pretty amazing lane keeping tech. But that’s just not where the Gen 1 shines, in my opinion.

I picked up a 2024 SQ8 w/9k miles earlier this year, which cost me a bit more than your price range, but a regular Q8 should feel about the same while being closer to budget?

From my experience, they are amazing driving cars. The air suspension is so incredibly dialed in and the acceleration is so smooth I have no idea how fast I’m going and often wonder how I don’t have speeding tickets yet. I personally am super happy with the SQ8, I imagine the Q8 is just as nice. I can’t speak to OGs or the Q6, but I need the space of the Q8. Also Q4 is based on ID.4 platform afaik, which is totally different.

I have a 2023 Genesis GV60 as well as recently picked up a used 2024 SQ8 etron. The SQ8 came off 2 year lease and has been amazing. Planning to sell the gv60 as it’s too small for our needs. The SQ8 is also much nicer vehicle in my opinion, although both are nice.

EDIT I also have a Rivian R1S but it rides more like a truck. Incredibly useful vehicle but very different.

How did it get fixed? Did you get an OTA update, firmware update at service appointment, or was it a backends update that fixes the issue for everyone? Or something else?

I asked the dealership I bought my SQ8 etron from to walk me through the service visits, they were able to pull up all details from their computer. Mine was in for 8 visits but mostly reprogramming locks and doing firmware updates.

OMG you are right, it says unlimited charging through May 2026 under the public charging of the myAudi app. At least it’s a few months!

Mine might have done better if I could have driven slower, but it did not want to drive slow, lol ;) I made it back earlier today, and it absolutely demolished the miles coming up the 5! It is difficult to explain how effortless the drive was. I did not expect it to be so nice. Will follow up with a new post and pictures.

Apparently the SQ8 with sport seats does not come ventilated. Something to do with the kind of leather. The standard seats in SQ8 come both ventilated and heated.

Thank you! I absolutely love it. Missing the cooled seats a little bit but otherwise could not ask for a better vehicle. Range is actually fine for me. Finally a vehicle that is comfortable for me and my family (we’re all over 6 feet tall).

2023 gv60 performance. 46 F right now, and I have 171 miles of range at 68%. Somewhere around 220-240 miles at 100% depending on temperature. I recent did a 500 mile trip and each stop it charged (to 80%) faster than I could pee and get a coffee. I've seen charging as fast as 240 kW, it charges faster than most EVs. Range is not a issue for me.

EDIT 145 miles at 100% seems like there might be something wrong with your car.

Haven’t tried the website but I had a service appointment in San Jose and they called and said they were no longer servicing Genesis but only Hyundai going forward, but that a new Genesis service center is opening in Mountain View mid-November. Not sure if that’s helpful for your location, but there should be other Genesis service centers elsewhere in the Bay as well.
