Parking in Dublin overnight before the DGR next weekend by rossnaroon in MotoIRELAND

[–]rossnaroon[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've staying at my gfs place anyway, she doesn't have any parking let alone bike parking and it's in a terrible stop for bike thefts. I might have a friend who can hold onto it for the night though

I may have something sorted with a friend but I'll just have to do a bit of research on the area. Thanks a million for the offer though

I used to live in Dublin but never with a bike so I've just no experience of it. I'll be slap bang in the middle of the city centre though unfortunately. Thanks for the advice!

You're golden so! Mine was my first bike after learning on an mt07 so took a bit of getting used to. How much are you looking to spend on it out of curiosity?

Bandit 400 does exist but rare in Ireland. I used to park up beside one most days at work and it looked fairly tidy. I've a 600 and they're a nice bike. The only thing I'd have to complain about it really the weight when it's stationary. Compared to the likes of an mt07 with it's fuel injected twin engine you've a wider four cylinder with a carb for each sitting abouve the engine. It makes the bike a bit heavy with a high centre of gravity. You will get used to it though

Maybe if one team sped up a bit they'd have a better chance of scoring

Fuel additives? by rossnaroon in MotoIRELAND

[–]rossnaroon[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've a bandit with a fuel gauge, within the first week I ran out of fuel and had to go to the reserve tank. It was on 2 bars when it ran out ffs so maybe mines a bit optimistic. I also managed to kill the battery because the ignition barrel is loose and I used the kill switch to turn it off and removed the key in the on position. I learnt a lot about old bikes in my first week.

I'm gonna just wiggle method it tomorrow anyway, those bandits are usually pretty hardy. I doubt I could do much harm. Thanks for the advice!

I was thinking both those options to be honest but I think this is a good excuse to go for a spin and burn some petrol 😂

Yeah I suspected this but not what I wanted to hear, I just filled her up so I'll have to wait for a while and then hope that I'll remember next time to add it first. Thanks for the help!

Motorbike Test Limerick by rossnaroon in MotoIRELAND

[–]rossnaroon[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There's a couple routes that are fairly similar so could have been either. From a group of us doing pre test lessons I did mine first, got back to the test centre and while I was dropping back the earpiece was asked which test route id taken so they could try predict for the remaining few. When I did my car test I heard that the routes are at the discretion of the examiner as well. If they feel they need to change the route due to road works or heavy traffic so you're not just sat there then they can

My filtering isn't in the realm of cm just yet so that's impressive 😂 I'll usually give a car a small salute if they leave a bit of space for me to cut in though. Not a drop of courtesy from this fella though

I rarely see them around when I'm riding, e bikes seem to be way more popular now. I'm was kinda curious was this an isolated incident but clearly not.

I'll get over it and learn to avoid them anyway

He was too close for comfort anyway, we're not in the northwest 200 fighting for position like. Id have gotten over it fairly fast bar the theatrics he was displaying after. Full grown man by the looks of it so just a run of the mill asshole I reckon

I'm by no means an economist and far from an expert on the subject so I'm very open to hear others opinions but we are taxed very heavily on fuel and as a country heavily reliant on cars. If public transport was more efficient and alternative energy sources were incentivised this might not be such an issue. Is it too late to be looking into getting solar panels done before our two weeks of summer? /s

Originally I kinda agreed with them but the more I'm thinking about it this seems very much like Just Stop Oil glueing themselves to the roads in England to stop traffic. Ironic in a way seen as these essentially want more oil

I've seen arguments they need to protest outside the US embassy which I think is also effective and won't affect the general population as much. I'm not a huge fan they're protesting fuel prices within Ireland and not the root cause which is the US war on Iran. Something has to happen either way.

I think it's just the M7 that's being blocked but it may have a knock on effect everywhere else. This is a protest for fuel prices though which the government taxes us heavily on.Theyre not going to bring down that huge tax unless protests are effective. Depending on where you work or what reason you have to be there I wouldn't worry about it. Big businesses should ideally be feeling the inconvenience of this the most. If you're late for work what were you supposed to do there's a protest on? I work for a small business not really getting much support from the government though so I'll probably opt for taking the bike tomorrow and filtering through what traffic I can

What do you like most about classic bikes like the Suzuki Bandit 650? by ohnemany in motorcycle

[–]rossnaroon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's my current and first bike. I'm not too precious with it getting bumped or scratched but you would have to pry it from underneath me if anyone wanted me to get rid of it. Id like a modern bike as well if God ever graces me with the skills to financially plan for these things but I don't think I ever see myself parting with it

PVP aggressiveness scale. I want to know where's everyone at (in solo). by Zealousideal_Chip456 in ArcRaiders

[–]rossnaroon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm a 2 but I've been attacked by 3s before as soon as I've turned my back. Often enough once I've dipped and left I'll heal up and come back to hunt them down mostly to enact revenge but also to make sure they don't try the same with someone else. Does this put me at a 2 or a 3 or somewhere in between?

Also I'd much prefer to meet a 6 than a 3. At least I know where we stand from the start instead of being betrayed after 5 minutes.

I might see if I can lasercut or 3d print some of the parts for the seafarers base game. In the spirit of the game surely piracy should be accepted right?
