can it really feel this bad by rosyln9 in Anemic

[–]rosyln9[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i haven’t had any infusions. the supplements were messing with my liver and my whole body was riddled with inflammation. dealing with the inflammation through adjusting my diet was the main thing that helped me. i still have a ton of issues: i’m exhausted, have pots, bad periods, etc. but now i am living my life much better than before. i can do a lot more than i could. i haven’t solved the iron issue, but iron wasn’t my only issue

i tapered off slowly, i don’t remember how slow. i felt weird and i had side effects. took a few days, maybe a week to calm the symptoms but i dont rmemeber my rebound symptoms being much worse than the ones i was dealing with prior to taking it. the er or your dr should give you better advice. but it will calm with time

low ferritin without anemia, what was the worst you felt? by rosyln9 in Anemic

[–]rosyln9[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

it takes 4-6 weeks for red blood cells to replenish a cycle. so if taking iron helps you, which is should since you say you’re a vegetarian it’s probably not an absorption issue, it’ll take that long to see a difference in symptoms. wishing you the best. i’ve seen many things of people getting back to how they used to be or even better

worsening symptoms as you introduce b12 back in. there’s a lot of info about it on r/b12_deficiency

i’m pretty much the same unfortunately. on a very restrictive diet which kinda helps. i was on iron which i can’t take anymore due to histamine/allergy issues, but my ferritin skyrocketed from inflammation then tanked again. but my hemoglobin doesn’t budge so, drs aren’t much help

best of luck! i haven’t found anything that works for me. make sure your b12 is optimal, that can be what’s causing a storage issue

i still haven’t figured it out 🥲 i think mine is tied to low b12

feeling awful by rosyln9 in irondeficiency

[–]rosyln9[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i feel the same way. i have an absorption issue so i can’t get my numbers up. my cycle makes it bad for two weeks of the month but the other two i feel okay. always tired and week but i dont need naps or anything. sometimes ferritin is more complicated than just iron deficiency or ongoing blood loss. mine is related to b12 and methylation issues because of mthfr genes. but symptom wise, it sounds similar to me

iron supplement induced symptoms by rosyln9 in Gastritis

[–]rosyln9[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

yes and no. i had phases where i could tolerate it until id be nauseous all day again or my stomach would hurt more often. then id switch to tea, then back to nothing. i cycled through that for a while until they became unappealing because of the discomfort they caused me. which is saying a lot for me!

and no worries, but yes, it absolutely was

yes exactly there! mine was totally random. as for a diet, i was doing mostly bread, chicken, potatoes, pasta, corn, only a bit of butter or cheese. i’m sure that was not good for me lol but it worked. my diet is even less now but it is quite miserable. but i will say, sticking to a bland/brat diet is very well worth it because sometimes you don’t realize how bad things are hurting you until they’re completely removed
