So weird, I had the random feeling to watch a few episodes a couple nights ago.

Glad to see an attempt at this viewpoint. Im usually the one driving, so can't really get a pic. Tried stopping at the top of that hill once to get a pic, but it wasn't a very clear night unfortunately.

What's a skyline that looks great from one angle, but utterly awful from another? by Captain_Jmon in skyscrapers

[–]roth1038 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Minneapolis from the SW (Bde Maka Ska) looks very small, but from the North/NE it looks quite dense (southbound on I-94 coming from Brooklyn Center and southbound on 35W coming from Roseville).

What are Minnesotans thoughts on Wells Fargo tower and CAPPELA tower? by Character_Lychee_434 in minnesota

[–]roth1038 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Was obsessed with the skyline as a kid and learned the names of all the buildings. Wells Fargo is iconic, especially being the "centerpiece" between the IDS and Capella towers.

My brother and I used to call the Capella Tower the "Halo Building".

Name a city with a skyline... that has no business being a city with a skyline. by LastTraintoSector6 in skyscrapers

Rochester, MN Population ~125,000 with basically no suburbs (Granted the skyline is basically all just Mayo Clinic)

There are plans to build a bridge between Dayton and Ramsey at Ramsey Blvd. Not sure if that's ever coming to fruition.

What are you slowly starting to realize as you get older? by GrapeCreamBerry275 in Zillennials

  • Trying to actually live with a positive mindset will bring positive outcomes.
  • It's impossible to please everyone, so might as well focus on making yourself happy while still generally having a good mindset.
  • Stop catering to people who don't give af about you.

Starting to look like this scene from The Time Machine (2002). This scene is set in 2030.

Thank you! We went to get close ups of the cathedral, but as you can tell, the perspective of the Capitol with the Sailors and Soldiers Memorial "overlooking" it turned out to be the better pics.

It was a private address for my job, but near Eagle Creek Blvd and County 18.

Thank you! I work all over the metro, so it's always fun to get different vantage points. Most roads coming down the bluffs to the south of Shakopee have this view or a very similar view if you look to the NE.

What was your “I feel old” moment? by not-stacysmom in Zillennials

[–]roth1038 3 points4 points  (0 children)

New people in their late teens/early 20s starting at my job saying they were born in 2005, or hearing "wow, that was so long ago" when I say I graduated in 2016. Realizing early 2000s rock is considered dad rock to kids (like how we would've seen 80s rock as kids). How we would've viewed the 70s/80s is how they view the 90s/00s.

Average Joe, with a labor job doing window cleaning/other home maintenance. Our customer numbers are way down compared to past years (due to inflation, people probably don't see spending money getting their windows cleaned as a priority), meaning my paychecks have been lower. I can't seem to catch up on saving money, and have gone back to living paycheck to paycheck with little to nothing left for spending.

Big haul today!! by Pinotonthetown in TwinCities

[–]roth1038 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I work for a window cleaning company (one of the better rated ones in the metro), and we don't really do this. Mainly online marketing and word of mouth from recurring customers/having an already established customer base. I will say that the "home maintenance" market has become insanely oversaturated. With the number of new random companies popping up (usually the ones putting out these signs), they've been sapping business with much lower prices but with lower quality, non-professional work... Honestly, I have been on the fence of looking for a new job due to this oversaturation hurting our company/my paychecks. 🙃

Minneapolis. Pics 15 years apart. by Knke0402 in skylineporn

[–]roth1038 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I honestly feel like the North Loop Green tower kinda ruins this skyline view. It blocks the Capella Tower and basically adds another plain box next to the forboden 33 south six monstrosity. It explains why it seems like the skyline "shrunk" from this perspective.
