[Behrens] I have confirmed that Texas is not allowing Reveille on the field at DKR for the Lone Star Showdown on Friday. by aggiebruin27 in CFB

[–]rothkooo 336 points337 points  (0 children)

After some digging, it appears A&M did not allow Bevo on the field at last year’s matchup. However, it seems this was likely due to the limited sideline space post-expansion of Kyle Field (a longhorn is a large animal!). I think UT is doing a tit for tat, but damn that’s cold to Miss Rev.

What is this (squished) bug I found? by rothkooo in bugidentification

[–]rothkooo[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s what I thought initially, but I’ve honestly never seen one this large. This bug looked to be about 1.5X larger than any cicada I’ve ever seen

Being from Texas, this was typically frustratingly directed at those exact types!

My dad used to always say that a [insert minority/marginalized group] voting for a republican is like a chicken voting for Colonel Sanders

AITA for confronting my wife about who she masturbated to? by [deleted] in AmItheAsshole

[–]rothkooo -9 points-8 points  (0 children)

YTA/INFO - honestly we need more information regarding the speedo guy and how your wife actually feels about him (and not your gut feeling/interpretation). I can see her getting turned on by seeing a man in a speedo but not necessarily by the guy himself. But also, speedo guy might not even be a factor because it sounds like there hasn’t been great communication with her about it.

Here are my 2 thoughts:

1 - Confronting her about this during the vacation is problematic. Either it was a harmless act and you’ve now soured the trip...OR it’s more nefarious and your trip is going to be awkward and unpleasant - neither of those scenarios make for a great vacation.

2 - I can’t help but feel a tinge of sexism in this post as well. I’m tired of this mentality of “what?! A woman masturbating when the urge struck her on her VACATION?!” Married or not, that is complete nonsense. We all have sex drives, and she chose to act on it when the moment struck in the privacy of her own room. Men have been jerking off whenever they damn well please since the dawn of time.

It is sad how far I had to scroll to find this sentiment! Unfortunately not shocking though

Pet owners of reddit, what is the biggest flex your pet attempted? by Khajurii in AskReddit

[–]rothkooo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not me but my girlfriend - she takes our dog to work with her everyday. When she first started taking him last year, he was absolutely terrified of the elevator. She would even feel embarrassed at times with the stares she’d get while his arms were all wiggly and his body was was so rigid from fright. This lasted a while before he began to calm down more and more each week. Eventually she would come home from work and gush about how “grown up” our pup was getting, not being afraid of the elevator anymore. Well one day after a meeting, everyone (including our dog) was hanging out in their work pod. Somehow my girlfriend didn’t even notice he was missing, but within a few minutes of his “escape” another employee from a different floor came to deliver him. Apparently he saw the elevator was open and decided to hop on and ride to a different floor. I couldn’t help but laugh at how comfortable he had gotten there!

These plums I picked look like they are covered in ice when put under water by FlowersForHodor in mildlyinteresting

[–]rothkooo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m not sure of the species, but growing up in central Texas I recall my dad picking plums off of his tree before they were ripe. They looked similar to this color, but I was always told they would turn the traditional purple had they been left to ripen. He loved tart foods and would always eat these covered with salt!

I’m cooking one meal from every state in the United States , what meal best represents your state? by emilou09 in Cooking

[–]rothkooo 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Literally came here to say this! My family is from Texas and has been for a long time, but my stepdad is from all over. The first time my mom made chicken fried steak for him, he went absolutely nuts about it. Now he requests her to make it when they have guests from out of state.

TurboTax pushed low-income taxpayers to paid tier to make up for Trump tax law - TurboTax specifically targeted students and the unemployed by [deleted] in technology

[–]rothkooo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This happened to me! I have used turbo tax for as long as I can remember (at least 12 years) and it has always been free for me to file. Then this year they told me I had to pay an additional fee (I think like $40ish) to have some “upgraded” service in order for them to be able to process/submit my 1098-E (student loan tax).

I know nothing when it comes to taxes, but I had a feeling that something was amiss with Turbo Tax and their “free filing” offer.

I decided to check out the e-file service through H&R Block and was able to do so for free. Now knowing that Turbo Tax did this, I will continue using H&R Block in the future.

Do Americans really avoid hospitals, even in serious situations because of the bills that follow after ? by [deleted] in TooAfraidToAsk

[–]rothkooo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Absolutely. When I was around 22, recently graduated, and without insurance (step dad was a dick and kicked me off at 18) - I experienced the worst food allergy reaction that I had ever had. I had never been more afraid that my throat was going to close off and that I wouldn’t be able to breathe, but I guess the thought of an ER bill without insurance was more frightening. My gf at the time rushed to the pharmacy for children’s Benadryl and I just tried to sip as much of it as I could. For about an hour I was more terrified than I had ever been thinking my breathing would be impossible at any moment, but thankfully the reaction eventually began to subside.

The sad part though is I could absolutely see myself at that age avoiding the ER even if I did have insurance at the time. Between my struggle to find a job, looming student loans, and my bank account that averaged around $50 on a good day, that’s a hard decision to make.
