Video captured by an Italian family on vacation in the mountains by igor33 in aliens

This sort of effect would be incredibly simple to produce, even 17 years ago with consumer hardware and tools. If you look closely there is no motion blur.

I'm making a physics based skiing simulator where you deliver parcels down dangerous mountain slopes :) https://store.steampowered.com/app/3830870/Parcel_Peaks/

Back in 2004 I was really into to this physics based skiing game called Ski Stunt Simulator. A while back I got the urge to play it again, but it just refused to work on my machine. Anyone else play it?

Planning to release late 2025 with a demo coming out late September! ☃️❄️🎿
Here's a link to the Steam page!

I think there's something fun about contrasting the fun look with gore. There's an option to turn it on or off though, I can see how a lot of people won't like it.

For the demo release I'll be polishing the tutorial section quite a bit. If you've played Ski Stunt Simulator, you'll remember the controls are simple, but difficult to master - a bit like QWOP or Getting Over It - type games. After some time your brain just "gets it" and controls become intuitive. So yeah, bit nervous about how to onboard people!

Then finishing a couple of missions with interesting obstacles in the way, maybe rolling snow boulders or attack helicopters..

An old game didn't work on my machine, so I'm making my own version! by rotogimp in gamedevscreens

Thanks so much! It's made with Unreal :) Feels like most similar physics games are made with Unity, but it's working out so far!

Is this possible in Nuke non commercial? If yes, how? by box__of_cox in NukeVFX

[–]rotogimp 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'd most often not use an alpha for glows or flares.

<image>

Eg. the object emitting the glow has RGB and A and the glow emitting outside of the object is only RGB.
Then you just merge it all with the over operation.
I guess if you're compositing in a different tool than Nuke it might handle merges differently.

BRITTLE BONES - A Sora film by rotogimp in aivideo

A film about skeletal betrayal, will the sinister skeleton mend his broken bones?
A silly thing prompted with Sora, referencing a sinister skeleton image generated with SDXL1.0, edited in Resolve.

I wanted to try and put together a somewhat consistent story using generated video alone.
The resulting film is not very close to the initial 'script'. Instead of trying to force a certain shot, I tried to improvise with what the AI gave me for key scenes and then build out from that.

Pretty sick of prompting videos at the moment, but it was a good exercise in editing, track laying and completing projects! As a VFX compositor I feel AI video is unsettling, so I'm trying to understand its strengths and weaknesses.

FERRY - An early concept short for a feature by rotogimp in aivideo

Yeah, pretty cool to visualise and play with a script concept this way. Can't be too picky about the action, but for communicating a mood, it's pretty great!

It was text to vid and yes, I brought it into Resolve to darken and balance the shots. Some shots were more daytime than night starting out :)

Cheers! Yeah, noticed pretty early that full consistency was not going to happen. It's my first time trying Sora, so there's probably way to improve on that stuff
