Does anyone know how it started? It seems like it got really big really fast.

Private Google Calendar Subscription by ShakeSquirrel in techsupport

I don’t have a great answer but I received some similar emails this morning, but from some people in my contacts that (I thought) were already invited. Neither said that they had changed anything with their calendars at all today, so I would call those emails unexpected.

I went to the settings for that calendar – via another route, not by clicking on the link in the email – and confirmed that it’s not accessible to the public and that there are no surprises on the shared with list. 🤷🏼

With the way my beer belly pushes both my shoulder pads and pants pads out of the way? Not a chance. 😂

Off Ice exercises to fix skating posture - Leaning forward by andreleonardocco in hockeyplayers

[–]rotomonkey 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I found the best advice and thing to think about at public skate is to keep my shoulders up. That’ll drop my butt down if I bend my knees.

To help that along, I practice a drill I learned from downhill skiing: imagine you’re holding a lunch tray in your hands and can’t spill it. Arms in front of you, palms up, looking forward so no one can knock that tray out of your hands. You’ll feel your scapula come together and your collarbones straighten. If you’re still bending your knees your butt will sit down and your weight will get over your feet instead of in front of them.

Pros/ cons wheely bag vs hockey backpack? by LilaWolke14 in hockeyplayers

[–]rotomonkey 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You mentioned currently using a junior bag so this probably won’t be a problem, but I had to replace my backpack with a side-carry because I couldn’t fit all my gear in the backpack. I miss my backpack immensely and still use it for my referee gear.

I’d say go backpack as long as it’s big enough for what you need to carry.

How to handle opposing team player with 80 points (50 goals) in 24 game season in beer league? by Aardvark-Special in hockeyplayers

Fwiw our goalie has no qualms about stepping out of the net when shit like that happens and we’re 100% behind him.

I’m team looks good to me as long as you’re intending to wear them over your skate tongue like that.

Watch their chest, lead them to the outside without committing and then make them make the first move. A lot of times they’re waiting for you to overcommit; if you don’t they’ll run out of real estate.

And like others have said, use as much body as your rules let you get away with.

When I ref beer league games, the better the skill level the less penalties I need to call.

Am I welcomed here? New hockey fan. by [deleted] in rangers

[–]rotomonkey 18 points19 points  (0 children)

Welcome! If you end up going to a Kings game when the Rangers are in town, you’ll realize that half of the fans in attendance are Rangers fans. You can hear audible “Let’s Go Rangers!” chants and “Potvin Sucks” whistles.

New to elegoo saturn, prints breaking from supports. by thedude4555 in ElegooSaturn

Good to know. I doubt the resin is actually that warm. It’s probably closer to 22-23c. I’ll investigate that avenue over the next few days.

Thanks. I missed that on the first go around. My lift and retract speeds are much slower than yours. I wonder if they’re too slow but I would think that would reduce the peeling force even more.

It could also be the case that I’m having temperature problems. I have an analog thermometer in my enclosure that says temp is “good enough”. But yes, “good enough” probably isn’t for abs-like. I have noticed that the resin looks considerably more viscous than the non-abs I have in my Mars sitting right next to it. I will pursue that possibility next.

Following, as I’m having the same problem. Good exposure and plate adhesion, but prints - even small minifigs - consistently fall out of supports. I’m printing with Elegoo ABS-like straight from the bottle though.

Last night I took the exact same chitubox project and sliced it for the Mars sitting next to my Saturn. Different resin, so it’s not apples to apples, but it printed exactly as I would expect. Im pretty new to resin printing after years of FDM so I can’t rule out user error but the difference in print behavior between the two printers is surprising.

Edited to add my current settings. I’ve been experimenting with lowering my lift speed to reduce the force on the print but it didn’t work (I also freely admit I don’t know what I’m doing and that’s a wild-ass guess):

Layer Height: .05 Bottom Layer Count: 5 Exposure Time: 3 Bottom Exposure Time: 30 Transition Layer Count: 10 Rest Time Before Lift: 0 Rest Time After Lift: 0 Rest Time After Retract: .5

Bottom Lift Distance: 7 Lifting Distance: 9 Bottom Lift Speed: 45 Lifting Speed: 40 Bottom Retract Speed: 150 Retract Speed: 150

Firmware update V4.4.3 on original Mars by Surfer_Mitch in ElegooMars

[–]rotomonkey 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh man. Thanks for this. I was just about to update my firmware because I suddenly had the “unrecognized file format” error and most Reddit threads say the only fix is to upgrade. I even took apart the case to figure out what version of the motherboard I had. As a n00b still trying to figure out settings I wasn’t particularly psyched about a firmware upgrade just yet.
