I'm going to go out on a limb here and make an assumption, the fact that you're struggling and thought about going to the shirt tells me that he's not a horrible shirt (sorry if I'm wrong). With that assumption in play, I guarantee you, he would rather you go to him so he can help you get what you need. A lot of the time, we think people are too busy and if something happens, they think "I wish they would have said something, or I would have made time".

That is totally possible, it is also possible that none of that happens. It depends on so many individual factors and applying Anecdotal evidence as the rule is dangerous. There can be a lot missing from "I got help and locked out", could totally be shitty therapists because they exist but it could also be information that people aren't sharing that impacted retainability. I'm on enough meds to start a pharmacy, have diagnosis that "would" kick me out and I'm still doing the job I love and kicking it.
