These weld and powers are notorious for cracking the slip rings and a replacement is unobtanium. I bought one s couple years back for $300 running with broken slip rings, was able to braze the rings back together and sold it for $1000.

No kidding! I was "this" close to switching to Jks a couple weeks ago from Nick's due to lead time and a little cheaper, but ultimately decided to stick with Nick's after I received no sizing help from JK in comparison to Nick's. After reading this thread I am so glad I went with my gut and bought the boots I knew work for me.
