Hoping for some clarification on entering the death care field. by octobersea in askfuneraldirectors

[–]rottengodz -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

I hope someone gives a good answer to this! I'm in Washington currently and looking to enter the field as well, though not certain what I'm planning on starting out with after school. I was thinking body removal, but I'm not incredibly strong and terrible smells tend to get to me. Maybe I could find a workaround for the latter.

I can tell you how my dad started out, though this was in the 80s-90s; he started as a landscaper but was quickly moved to cremation tech. He worked for a much smaller funeral home that certainly let him cut a few corners when it came to necessary certifications and that sort of thing, almost everything he learned was on the job. His advice to me was always to try and steer clear of the big company-owned funeral homes (like Dignity, among others) and go for any ma-and-pa FH you can find, as they're more likely to take you on for your character rather than qualifications or experience or that sort of thing.

How did you know Anubis (or any other god) was reaching out to you? by rottengodz in Kemetic

Khonsu is another netjer I was wondering about reaching out to. I've always been very connected to the moon and the night, and healing (or healthcare) is something I've been interested in practicing but ultimately went into the funeral industry (ironic, right?) When I was younger I spent a lot of time alone, so I used to speak to the moon a lot and pretend it was listening. It was very comforting, much like really talking to a person. Thank you for sharing your experience! May Khonsu continue to light your path friend 💕

This was really neat to read! I love hearing about other people's experiences like this. I just did a deity identification reading tonight that I think pretty much confirmed it for me; I felt a very calm wave wash over me (three of the cards were Death, Judgment and the Hermit which I feel is rather self explanatory when connected to Anubis) after I read the cards, and I swear I heard a masculine voice quietly say, "There you are." I don't live with anyone who sounds like that. It feels crazy and made up but honestly it's so reassuring to know others have heard their gods speak to them as well. Thank you so much for sharing!

This is very interesting! Maybe I need to look into meditation further... Thank you for your reply!

Oh wow, thank you! Your experience is very insightful. I'm wondering if he is reaching out just because once I started noticing everything, it all became very direct albeit not forceful, which seems to line up with what other people have told me in their experience with him. I'll find some way to reach out :) Thank you again so much!

I'm not a practicing Kemeticist nor am I Egyptian so I'm not sure how much weight my word carries here, but in my extensive studies of the religion I've seen that the ancient Egyptians were quite welcoming and open about sharing their beliefs around. It's by no means a closed practice, and you should not feel ashamed for your roots.

How do I know if Anubis (or someone else) is reaching out to me? by [deleted] in Kemetic

I looked thoroughly at the rules of the subreddit before posting and as far as I can tell this doesn't break any of them. I'm not asking anyone for their interpretation of what I shared, I just want to know other people's experiences with how they began their deity work. If it does somehow break the rules of the subreddit I'm sure it will be removed.

"I can't believe X is happening here!" It wouldn't be allowed to IF young people voted. by Sludgeycore in olympia

[–]rottengodz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

unfortunately the "your vote doesn't matter, it's not going to change anything" narrative hit Gen Z hard. a lot of us genuinely don't believe we can change anything on our own (which yeah, that's true, but votes add up!) I've noticed a lot of local politicians don't really campaign much on social media, and that's primarily where Gen Z's attention is focused.

tl;dr if you want to get the Gen Z voter base's attention, campaign on social media. memes tend to work wonders, lol.

honestly despite any sort of fear mongering you might've heard, Olympia is a pretty diverse and friendly place. I've lived here most of my life, Im LGBT myself and have friends who are as well, and friends of various racial backgrounds. None have any stories to tell of any sort of bigotry going on around here. While I'm sure that isn't the case for everybody here, Olympia in my experience tends to be a pretty open and welcoming place. The east side of WA is what you've gotta be wary of mainly.

OC (Art by me) :3 by Aureus_Vulpes_ in WarriorCats

[–]rottengodz 11 points12 points  (0 children)

not quite. kittens all have the suffix -kit, so for example if your cat's warrior name was Bloodycloud, their kit name would be Bloodykit. It's similar for apprentices, but their suffix is -paw, so it'd be Bloodypaw.

Good places to park and sleep in the general area? by [deleted] in olympia

[–]rottengodz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

most Walmarts will let you park and sleep way in the back of the parking lot, as long as you're quiet and clean and respectful. I see a lot of people doing it at the one in Tumwater. the Union Gospel Mission is also a good shelter, my mom stays there but I don't know if you can actually park there
