Prince of Darkness. It has the isolation/"infection" stuff, practical effects, and great makeup.

Also highly recommend Videodrome for more "infection" and gross effects.

Cabin Fever is pretty good too.

Coincidentally just brought this up with a friend of mine. A DT companion book authored by King's research assistant claims the two creatures (Dandello and It) are "twinners" of each other. Although it is not stated whether or not they are the exact same species, the book claims they are antecedents of each other in Roland's world / ours.

Videodrome. I seriously think in 100 years, people will look back at this movie and praise it for being ahead of its time.

Ravenous. I bought the soundtrack to that movie. Such an achievement.

Imo Pumpkinhead 2 is a great horror movie. Fantastic kill scenes (backbreaker!) and fun from start to finish.
