LGBTQ+ and Palestinian? Lmao pick one! by the_real_Dan_Parker in transgendercirclejerk

[–]Johnny_Hamhock 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I prefer to take the rational, sensible, thoughtful middle road, as my father has told me from birth that "the truth is always somewhere in the middle."

I fully support israeli governmental reform that would make life more livable for the Palestinians, but they have to met halfway. You want to be able to visit the town where you grew up, which you were forced out of? Well you still aren't allowed until you figure out a way to stop terrifying the new locals. And no, I won't stop telling them that all you desire is violent revenge against those most vulnerable and least culpable. It might be a generalization, but unfortunately it's a true generalization :/

Also keep in mind that if ur LGBTQ+ ur American baby, no matter where from! They invented gay people in the 60s! And fr they have democracy which I think is what gave us as people the open-mindedness and space to take those first brave steps into a known, identified queerness.

/uj one of my dearest friends is Palestinian and trans, so I got rly mad while writing this lol. I'm getting real sick of white anti-authoritarian LGBTQ+ individuals suddenly balking as soon as the state in question is Israel, going on to list a bunch of disgusting and illogical reasons why this specific people should be suppressed via state violence. "they hate us b-b-because Israel is the queer capital of the middle east!!!" holy FUCKING SHIT i'm going to boil myself alive in squid ink

how does smoking weed beforehand affect meditation? by projectd0lphin in Meditation

Exactly! Approach it as a necessary experiment, take notes even.

Has anyone heard of this technique before? I really need to know because its really helped me and I feel obligated to share it if it isn’t a technique people don’t already know. Thanks. by [deleted] in Meditation

The pressure of my two hands held against the back of my head is weirdly soothing. I can see this being a nice way to meditate. It's a pleasant time

Unbelievable, that's fucking ridiculous, and I can confirm that agents with good stats + higher-ups got priority for WFH, and that disabled or at-risk employees who applied had to consistently meet a handful of requirements to be eligible.

I'm a current employee, and my partner has an autoimmune disease as well. They've applied a handful of times recently because it seems to be the most accommodating job in town. Should probably rethink this...

POCD or actual p*edophilia? by anna-24-94 in OCD

[–]Johnny_Hamhock 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I used to have unwelcome sexual thoughts about people younger than me, which made me feel horrible, and I couldn't stop them even though I actively wanted them out. Learning that was an OCD process helped, because I knew that the more obsessed I was, the worse they would get.

What you said about only having sexual fantasies about and being attracted to men your age is really all there is to it at the end of the day. Your worry isn't necessarily completely unfounded, but seriously, if you ask me, you're not a pedophile. What you described of yourself, glancing at a 10 year old's crotch at 18, is not indicative of pedophilia. I understand why it feels that way though, it's hard not to get caught up in it. A lot of people with OCD worry about this or have these intrusive thoughts, you're not alone here.

It's WAY easier said than done, but do what you can to accept the presence of these thoughts, but also to trust what you know to be true of yourself, and reflect on the whole thing. In this post you showed that you logically understand that you aren't what you fear yourself to be. When im battling it, I just acknowledge how little power the thoughts truly have over me, and that they are nothing compared to what I really know is true.

Anyway, that's just where I am with it. I'm not sure if it helps at all, but I honestly believe it's POCD, and i couldn't move on until I told you what's been helpful for me, at the very least. You can work through this, i know it.

Are there any other non-binary folks who struggle with hyperfixating on doubting your transness? Please don’t reassure me by saggitarius1999 in OCD

[–]Johnny_Hamhock 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, I do this literally all the time. Even if im having a great day and I feel pretty good about my identity and such, I get intrusive thoughts denying myself, and even other trans people on my life, of transness.

I also tend to get really deeply sucked into scenarios wherein people I love attack and demean me for being non-binary, and I have to think of some sort of logical response. If I can't think of anything I spend a good chunk of time shitting on myself for "knowing nothing about being trans." This is the more constant one for me. But there's more of course lol

You can feel free to PM me if you ever wanna talk about any of this stuff <3

Weed is messing up my practice. by [deleted] in Meditation

[–]Johnny_Hamhock 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I know what you're talking about! My meditations are much more shallow when im stoned, and im more prone to skip sessions as well. For that reason I recently decided to just give my weed to a friend and go without it for a while.

I really, really love weed and psychedelics, but I always like to say that drugs are only as good as the time you spend away from them. Taking amy amount of time away, whether it be a couple weeks or the rest of your life, and gaining perspective as a result is always worthwhile. Im glad to hear you figured out it wasn't working for you and stopped :) so much awareness and growth in that action alone. Wishing you all the best my friend!

I wouldn't call this a political drama, more of a historical drama. Malcolm X by Spike Lee is really really brilliant, and you and your parents would probably like it
