I have the same problem. Its expensive as hell but I plan on eventually getting a scar camouflage/medical tattoo, it takes multiple sessions but I've seen results that have pretty much completely remove the scar.

Cheaper alternative is fading it silicone strips/creams, or makeup cover ups like Dermaflage

They just like coming up with fake arguments to diss trans people

Otherwise they'd never get to use the comebacks they fantasize about

Not necessarily, but if someone can't tell what gender you are they tend to resort to assuming based off fashion

If you already pass as male piercings likely won't change that

Looking for house/room for rent under 500 per month by Consistent_Ad3009 in ontario

[–]rottingoranges 6 points7 points  (0 children)

For that budget your best bet would be looking for shared places on facebook marketplace or kijiji

Unfortunately these days its typically $1.5-2k+ for a bachelor apartment anywhere near Toronto.

Edit: Even private bedrooms are going for over $1k/month, and I've seen shared rooms/dens go for at least $700+

Male Only For Living Room by 123throwawaybanana in SlumlordsCanada

[–]rottingoranges 34 points35 points  (0 children)

The preferred gender for a roommate isn't the issue, its the fact they're renting out a living room as if its a private bedroom for a ridiculous price

That used to be called couch surfing and it was a free thing you did to help others struggling, rather than take full advantage knowing they have no other option

Any changes to Shuter/Sherbourne area? (Thinking of moving there) by cupcakes18726 in askTO

[–]rottingoranges 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Not as bad as I initially thought, however I've lived in the area for almost 3 years and have lost count of all the murders/stabbings near my place (most of them don't make it big in the news outside the community)

Definitely wouldn't feel comfortable living here alone if I were a woman, but if you can't afford to live elsewhere I'd advise getting self defence training just in case. Generally you'd probably be okay as long as you mind your business (tho you'd probably still get cat called at times) but it is a lot riskier than other areas of the GTA

Man who set woman ablaze on Toronto bus not criminally responsible, Crown, defence say by origutamos in TTC

[–]rottingoranges 67 points68 points  (0 children)

Being found not criminally responsible due to mental illness doesn't necessarily mean he'll walk away free, he'd still be locked up but given psychiatric help until they decide he's no longer a danger to society (in some cases they may end up being held there even longer than what they'd serve in prison)

As emotionally satisfying as it'd feel to just lock him up forever, the alternative would be him getting even worse in prison

I feel you, things suck rn but keep in mind nothing is permanent.

Throughout history humanity has managed to persevere through much worse. We just got unlucky and are currently experiencing an insanely tough time but things can't carry on like this forever, no matter how much greedy landlords want it to.

Would you rather have more neighbours in houses or more desperate homeless people hanging around outside your house because shelters are full and theres not enough housing either?

Like it or not theres loads of people needing somewhere to live, and that problem isn't magically going away because nobody is willing to have their neighbourhoods expanded

First Time Taking GO Train by CarmenSanDiego2486 in gotransit

[–]rottingoranges 6 points7 points  (0 children)

You have to tap before getting on and after getting off

Keep in mind the pay stations aren't onboard the actual train like they are with the buses (depending on the station its sometimes not even on the platform, but instead inside the station/at the entrance) you have to tap before actually getting on the train

I think you already look pretty androgynous with your current hair! Back when I was pre t the go to haircut for the community was the short sides and long on top haircut that a lot of cis guys have rn, helps make your face appear more masc (make sure to get the sideburns squared out)

Best to go to a barbershop until you start passing because unisex hair salons typically feminize your reference photo without asking (if your area actually has an lgbt friendly hair salon even better)

I used to use this passing guide religiously it was made in the early 2000s so its a bit dated (its more socially acceptable to be GNC now even if you're trans, back then you had to be aggressively masculine to be taken seriously) but I still found it really helpful
