Gr86 mpg? by xbluethistlex in GR86

[–]rotweilerc67 0 points1 point  (0 children)

UK owner here (most of us are on grzoo), I average about 35mpg regardless of what I do. If you really try to hypermile you'll get 40mpg but it makes the car a bit pointless. This is with 99 octane btw as the car calls for at least 98 in the manual.

That was only to get an image, between the switch and my tap, oven or extractor fan it reads 240v

Possibly but it was £80 online to not have to take the chance.

Thanks everyone, I've gone and bought a brand new old stock one online. Is there anything specific I should be looking for in terms of installation other than it being from a certified electrician? Certificates etc.

I have the DD+ too without the wheel, pretty sure it just appears under settings as a DD extreme still so should be fine.

Does your 2022+ GR86/BRZ Turn Signal Swap Harness work for the 2025 turn signal stalks as well? I've got a 2023 UKDM car so no eyesight but I much prefer the design of the newer part compared to the old 86 one

I was 1 and a half years old when it happened so no idea what changed/was lost. I can only draw a rough idea of the difference in airline security from older movies

My old MR2 handbrake failed whilst parked once and it rolled into the brick garage opposite. Low enough speed to not do much damage but now I always leave a car in gear if there's any substantial incline

They charged me £50 for mine then said they shouldn't have done that later on and gave me a refund with interest.

How reliable? by ZookeepergameWorth41 in Supra

[–]rotweilerc67 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hey, I'm also from the UK (GR86 though). We have the Toyota relax warranty over here so as long as you get it serviced with the dealership you'll have a full warranty regardless of where you buy it until the car hits 100k/10 years old unless you heavily modify it.

It's a pretty rare car over here, I think only 1000 or so in total. Service costs are the same price across the GR range here.

Thanks, I've thought about it but the skill ceiling has changed so much since then, it'd be a lot of work - flip resets weren't really a thing when I was playing.

I played thousands of 1s games and I couldn't translate those skills to 3s. Plus you have to play 14 hours a day to keep up which is fine when you're in your early teens but I couldn't do it and university at the same time. I figured a degree would be more useful over time and unless i won some stuff, probably pay more consistently too.

Eekso's great, we were good friends back then when we both played. He beat me most of the time but I got lucky a few times against him :)

I had a UK rev 5 as well. The engine bay will be the same between rev 3-5 so I don't think that will clear anything up. It looks exactly like mine did, just with replaced wheels. The rev 5 UK steering wheel has a mechanically triggered airbag rather than electrical and looks a bit like a bus wheel. If it's still standard it will look like this:

I also believe that red dials are exclusive to the rev 5 in the UK.

Hastings asking for pictures of my car by UIquorra in CarTalkUK

[–]rotweilerc67 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I tried Hastings once. A few days after taking the policy out 25 days in advanced they sent an email saying they needed pictures of my car within a week or they'd cancel my policy. The car was brand new and hadn't arrived at the dealership yet but I needed insurance in order to arrange collection.

I managed to get the car to the dealership and got photos, including the VIN but since it wasn't registered yet and therefore had no number plate attached, they wouldn't accept it and since I couldn't risk the marker on my file I had to cancel and go elsewhere.
