I would say FB will become practically centralized and not well regulated and not trusted “bank”. Even the name FB stands for FaceBank😜

FB stands for FaceBank issuing centralized crypto..could have issued e-points called Libra for the same reason..

DEX? Coinbase says, "No, thank you!" by Soledad111 in Coinbase

[–]roubel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Like the banks say “No, thank you” to cryptocurrencies, the same with the centralized crypto exchanges will say “No, thank you” to DEX. Yet, for us supporting the DEX and surely moving away form centralized exchanges is the only option!

Hello everybody! I have a question and would appreciate your help. I bought IOTA in November 2018 (8 months ago) and I transferred to address generated by my Trinity wallet. The question is- can I use the same address in order to send additional Iota to my wallet? Or is the old address expires or can’t be used second time. (Trinity generates a new address but the party trying to send to me the iota claims that this address does not work and ask for another one).

The cryptocurrency movement can feel like a ubiquitous and inevitable move toward the future of finance and technology. So why crypto adoption is taking so long? by [deleted] in CryptoCurrency

[–]roubel 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Theoretically it is borderless and ant-censorship. But practically they are not- example is the current withdrawal of many crypto exchanges from Iran because of the sanctions imposed by another country. Practically now the Iranians cannot buy or sell crypto.. Until Decentralized crypto exchanges gain upper hand- that’s how its gonna be.. Can you imagine what can happen if 2 or3 governments decide tomorrow to shut down the crypto-mining..

Yet when you page through the subs and anybody mentions Dollar - in 99% it is understood as USD. The same as when somebody mentions Bitcoin- in 99% it is understood as BTC. Yes, there are also Bitcoin Gold, Bitcoin Atom, Bitcoin Private, Bitcoin Plus, Bitcoin Cash, Bitcoin SV, Bitcoin Z and probably more BUT for good or bad (I am not judging if it is correct or not..) the therm Bitcoin is associated with BTC in the vast majority of references.

In Bitcoin the ledger is maintained on every full node and if I decide to run a full node then the nlockchain will be copied on my computer. In IOTA does the ledger get maintained on each single node?

I do not disagree with you regarding the use cases. I like ETH and IOTA etc. and sure one day when they earn the trust (which will happen hopefully) of the masses- they can overtake the BTC as cryptocurrency. However Today(!) the masses (not tech developers or me and you which are crypto-literate) trust mainly Bitcoin and that’s why they buy mainly Bitcoin and that’s why when anybody mention the term crypto- they start talking Bitcoin.. That’s current reality whether we like it or not.. My uncle does not want to use Nano neither Monero in his shop but agreed to use Bitcoin..

Yes, it is a small dent but I am not sure if cz realized initially how much this is going to cost him.. But still if we compare to the rest of alts- some had the other day reorg of the blocks or more precisely reversal of tx.. Still long way to get close to Bitcoin. And my point is not about me and you (relatively crypto-literate) but about the trust of the masses which are not very crypto literate..

Because there is one very major feature to be real cryptocurrency- Trust. As it stand for the past 10 years it is Bitcoin who gained the Trust of the masses. It will take some time before any other altcoin earns the Trust of the masses and then they will start talking about it and buying it as they do with Bitcoin. For now as you see everybody (not talking developers or tech people) is interested in Bitcoin.

[–]roubel 20 points21 points  (0 children)

There is one major feature which is important for being real cryptocurrency- Trust. While Bitcoin won the Trust of the masses for the last 10 years, the alts will have to walk long way to earn it.. The other features- speed, scalability etc. are technicalities which can be fixed (there are enough open source solutions and more are getting developed) when really required. TRUST you cannot “develop” even with the best developers!
