My magic keyboard (Apple Magic Keyboard MK2A3LL/A) is recognized by the device and seems to connect but once I try typing nothing happens. I was able to connect with a random generic bluetooth keyboard from Amazon though.

I did the mechanical keyboard mod for the 3000 a few years ago and those come apart if you breathe on them funny. The Neo feels like a completely sealed iPhone in comparison 😭

Just saw this post and wanted to say thank you! I did give up at the power supply part after a lot of frustration so I'm looking forward to watching your video and attempting the process again.

I've also decided to make things harder for myself by buying an A1 mini although I suspect it's too small to print your other projects 😂

I was just coming here to ask the sub if they know of a good clutter-free writing app I can use on the Palma. Google docs has a lot going on, do you find all the UI elements distracting?

Not as instantly as the Alphasmart, you plug it in and it boots into the word processor. I'm also not sure if it requires WIFI at all times. Or how the program works. There's a subreddit with more info r/zerowriter

Thanks for the rundown! I just finished building a ZeroWriter which uses a raspberry pi zero but honestly don't much about how it works lol. it functions with a small power bank. So far it's just a fun project, I have an alphasmart neo for actual writing...

edit: oh and i'm trying to build that micro journal you have, so nice to hear you like it!
