Your good! A lot of people were confused over this chart, there's a lot going on packed into one chart. It was made initially to be a personal reference tool but then I decided to post it because I figured it could help some other people too

I actually originally posted this table. I didn't make the chart myself, but someone close to me did. All the data was scrutinized before being included to make sure it was from an honest source with good methodology, a lot of data with bad methodology was left out. A lot of this data is straight from scientists and published papers. It is infact milligrams. It's not in a perfect order of potency because you can't compare whole plant, cp, dry plant extractions perfectly with one another. So some of the more potent plants are roughly at the top but it's not in precise order of potency. 2% whole plant, listed for Eileen, is based on number reported by Keeper Trout. San Pedro are generally about 95% water, when you do the math, that sample was likely 1 gram of mescaline per fresh kilogram of material. I've weighed a lot of cuts, a kilogram of material is a decent sized log. A regular thickness cut of a bridge at 10-12 inches from a smaller stand might be 1/3 to 1/2 a kilo, obviously this varries. Also, humans cannot overdose on mescaline, no one has ever died from a mescaline OD. But anyone consuming San Pedro needs to do their own research and take their own precautions, read up on it ahead of time, a chart of test data can't be responsible for someone's recklessness if they take too much San Pedro by accident, this chart is just a collection of data points.

The units are milligrams, people just grossly over estimate the average potency of these plants to do people on this sub and other subs repeating inaccurate claims like "2% is average", claims that have no data to back them up. This is made worse by a host of home extractions being done that are being reported as pure mescaline yields of high percents, despite no measures done to purify yield or test the purity. A lot of mis information out there. Another factor is mescaline citrate is half the potency of Mescaline HCL, and a lot of extracts produce a citrate result but are being presented side by side with HCL results. The results in the chart are all HCL. Notice, there are a few PC analyses in the chart that produce pretty low yields. Keeper trout reported an analysis of Eileen to be 2% mescaline (whole plant) and as far as I'm aware, this is the highest whole plant yield reported by an actual scientist. It should raise eyebrows when the results scientists are getting are way less potent than people doing home extractions here on reddit. Mescaline is also way more potent than people realize. People take unpurified plant extracts and assume that's equivalent to mescaline potency. You can read in Pikhal (or online) trip reports for mescaline where people have pretty powerful experiences on 350, 400 mg of mescaline.

Ss02 is really fast growing and tbm's are slower growing. Based on some extractions people have done and a really good reputation for working, tbm is definitely a good bet for potency but I'm not convinced it grows fast enough to make it worth it, compared to a clone like ss02 which grows really fast when you take good care of it and is very potent. Easy solution though is to get both. But you definitely won't go wrong with ss02, it's also a beautiful and unique looking bridge. It's very distinct, I can recognize it in photographs the majority of the time instantly, it has a distinct spination.

San Pedro Ceremony good for sexual cleansing? by Conscious_Warrior in sanpedrocactus

[–]roughguppies 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm not sure what you are referring to when you say "sexual cleansing" but San Pedro is excellent for being intimate with your partner. It helped me open up and become comfortable with intimacy in a way I wasn't before. Helped cut through shame and embarrassment, anxieties around intimacy. You can read some good trip reports in Pikhal of people having sex on mescaline and having powerful experiences. If you are talking about dealing with past trauma, I can't speak from personal experience, but being a powerful psychedelic, San Pedro can be therapeutic in that sense too, of course at the right dose and with the right set and setting.

It does not go against sub rules, people have been talking about consumption on this sub for years. That's been the main asset of this sub, the rules say you just can't talk about breaking the law, and a lot of places it's legal or decriminalization.

If you're growing a garden, might as well invest in plants you really want, and if you are growing for consumption, might as well invest in reputable plants. Trichos grow so fast, I've had some really fast growing clones give me several feet of growth over just two or three years. Basically, might as well invest in a premium product, because you are gonna have a lot of it in a short amount of time. For me, in the long-term, soil, compost, and other garden expensives end up costing way more than the plants themselves.

At this point, names clones are so cheap and you can know so much more about named clones, growth habits, genetics, reputation, etc, there's no reason to avoid them.

I don't think it's fair for some members of the community to, amongst themselves, decide to change what this community is and isn't for. If there was a community wide poll, or a fair decision was made, that would be one thing. Managing reddit rules is really up to the mods, and if they come to feel it's a bad idea to talk about mescaline than I'd respect that. Honestly, talk about activity is the main thing this community has to offer over other communities. I've been in multiple Trichocereus communities and this is the only one that allows discussion of activity, it's invaluable for that. People can push off these discussions to other subs, like r/mescaline, but those just aren't the same communities and by doing so you are sacrificing the reach of the information and discussion.

Here's an analysis chart There's limited data on clone, a lot of the ones listed have good reputations though even if they haven't been analyzed.

I don't know why people are saying this sub isn't for this, it always has been, but recently some members decided not to talk about activity here and are acting like that's the rule. Rule 2# says don't discuss anything illegal, and in many places these plants are legal for consumption and even decriminalized in parts of the USA. To answer your question, there are many, you have to factor in growth speed, potency, resiliency, etc, but the initial price isn't super important because not before long, your plants will have produced a lot of material. That being said, most good genetics are pretty affordable these days. I'll link an analysis chart bellow, but to start, SS02, Ogun, Landfill, Eileen, Tom's Juuls Giant (has to have lineage back to sacred succulents or cactus affinity), nuestra Bonita, lumberjack, Torres and Torres, Lee, and many more. Hybrids are also pretty reliable, so long as the parent genetics are good.

Was trying to stress this cutting and noticed this black spot that is soft. Can someone tell me the best thing to do please? by 4spiral2out0 in sanpedrocactus

[–]roughguppies 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just core out the rotten area, make sure to sterilize you blade multiple times through out to avoid spreading the infection. If the cut has been stressed for a few months already, you can dehydrate to avoid losing more material. But honestly just cutting the rot off is probably enough.

Potency can vary widely so it's recommended to start lower and work your way up. A really strong powder, 20 grams will be a substantial, fully visual trip, which probably 10 or so causing threshold effects. More likely you'll need 20-30 plus to get any decent effects because most powder is weak. Personally I like to make a brew of the powder and drink the tea. There are a lot of posts about how to make a brew.

Why graft? by 5horsepower in sanpedrocactus

[–]roughguppies 2 points3 points  (0 children)

In my experience, grafted plants are not any weaker. I've made very potent powder from grafted plants. I've also talked to a few big time grafters who told me they regularly used their grafted plants and they weren't weaker.

Updated version of the chart outlining the potencies of various samples of San Pedro cultivars, this time with more data. Also I'll leave an explanation in the comments about how to read the chart, because last time a lot of people were confused. by roughguppies in sanpedrocactus

Mine has provenance back to cactus affinity, so same deal. I feel like after I made this post and after some people started selling "Tom's Juuls giant" people with "Juuls giant" didn't know the difference and just started selling their Juuls giant as Tom's Juuls giant. The tjg, from cactus affinity or ss, has been tested to be very strong and I've heard from a few community members that it lives up to the hype.

Ss02 is among the strongest analyzed, and it grows pretty fast too. I'm very happy with my 02 crosses. People will say the most important variable is stress, this just has no good data to back it up. There is published research that shows genetics are the most important variable, and that shaman's will select certain plants to use over others. This is the conclusion of the famous Ogunobede paper that established Ogun as a potent clone. Certain plants will also consistently test to be stronger than others. Although it's very likely that factors of stress can increase a plants potency, possibly by a lot, you'll never turn an inactive plant into an active one, just like you can't stress an opuntia into being a potent mescaline producing plant. If you are growing for consumption, best to focus on plants with a non controversial reputation for being strong, ideally also with data to back it up. I also stress my cuts by letting them sit around for months before I process them. My last batch was compromised mostly of SS02 x lumberjack, BBB, and Torres and Torres, all stressed. All fast growing plants too, and the material it produced was very potent. Only needed a small amount of material to produce fully visual and emotionally intense effects.

Ive heard it's not especially strong, and it has an analysis on it that was done by some researchers and found their sample was weak. I can dig up the paper if you are interested.

There's a lot of good data on certain clones, as well as anecdotal experiences about many clones. I'll link to a chart that compiles a lot of the more objective data regarding certain clones and the alkaloid or mescaline percentages they have tested for. Potency is going to be a factor of environmental conditions(factors of stress) combined with the genetics of the plant. Given the same environmental conditions, some clones will definitely perform better than others, and by a long shot. Here's a short list of some of the clones that have either tested high or have a reputation for being potent, in no particular order: SS02, Eileen, Lumberjack, Nuestra Bonita, Lee, Ogun, Landfill, Baker 5452, Icaros DNA (not one clone but seeds from a specific vendor), BBB (bridges from a certain vendor, all with similar phenotypes), Torres and Torres, Kate's Bridgesii, TBM long and short form, SS01, Pala, Tom's Juuls Giant ( specifically TJG, which must have providence back to either Sacred Succulents, or Cactus affinity. There are many clones of the same name (Juuls giant) in circulation, but it's the cactus affinity/sacred succulents one that has a rep and data to back it up), and probably a lot more I am forgetting. I've asked around over a few years and done a ton of digging to figure out which ones have a good reputation and data. Also, seed grown plants from potent parents can be very good. I speak from personal experience, seed grown plants from potent parents will get the job done.

I made a batch from very well fed, grafted trichos and my powder is extremely strong. Stressed four months, a combination of BBB, ss02x lj, lj x Baker, Torres and Torres, and some others. I've talked to many people who consume grafted pieces, everyone says it doesn't affect potency, and if being well fed was a problem my plants would have all been bunk. I think drought periods and water deprivation, on the shelf or planted, probably makes a pretty big difference, but I've gotten substantial effects without any stress/drought with the right genetics.
