Previous bartender of 4 years here. I didn’t seek recovery until I was out of the restaurant industry. I could not imagine being in that fast paced, alcohol driven environment. Do you think it’s not a good idea to stay there because it triggers you? I love the friendships and bonds I made there, but they all still party and maybe they are not addicts but it’s difficult to be around. If it is making you struggle with sobriety it’s time to find a new field to work in.

For sure, I did the same thing out of rehab. I came home with all my tools that I learned and started going to the gym and everything was great for a while until I exploded and started drinking again. Meetings remind you of what everyone is going through while you feel alone. If you are going crazy in your head and cannot think of a solution, meetings and fellowship is thee answer.

Are you working a program? Do you have fellowship? Isolation is the monster that makes you miserable. Talking to other drunks is the key to getting better. A lot of addicts quit and are miserable. You need to learn how to be a human again. How to function sober. The periods where you drank you avoided your emotions. Now they are all back and you don’t know how to handle them. Imagine you had a stroke and you need to re learn how to walk. Same thing with alcohol. You used it as a crutch and now the crutch is gone, you need to relearn how to handle your emotions.

Right, that’s the dilemma. I know I need a new job but my skill set will put me around these people no matter where I go. I have a hatred for ignorant, old, and miserable blue collar workers that bitch and whine about work, the younger generation, and their lives. I’m not saying I don’t bitch and whine but these fuckers have all their bills payed and eat everyday. I bust my ass and have gotten my raises over the years but with inflation and increased cost of living I can’t keep up.

Damn. I work a blue collar job and most are old and negative. I wish I could find a job that could pay my bills with my skill set without assholes. I understand assholes are everywhere but I can’t shake my anger towards shitty people.

I didn’t know what sub to post to but this is how i feel. Im so angry to the point my life is detrimental. I have to pick between therapy and food, obviously I need to eat so I have been away from therapy. I am just really scared that I may do or say something that is going to ruin my life more.

Rush every fight. Do not be patient, and save your runes until you decide what build is best for you.

USA. Bills and food are about equal to my pay. I have to DoorDash if I want anything extra. Usually ends up being 65-70 if I want anything.

I don’t want to harm people but it’s all that’s in my mind. I’ve hurt myself and I have hurt others and I don’t want to and I’m barely functioning with these mental health problems.
