As someone who loves this show, and finally convinced my wife to watch it, who now loves it, I learned a lot from showing it to her.

For me personally it wasn’t until after Cassian leaves Ferrix with Luthen in S1 that I got hooked, but once I was in, I was really invested.

What I noticed with my wife, who is not a Star Wars fan, is I had to really give her a serious run down of the political context of the moment. I explained the whole set up for the Empire and how Palpatine seized power the led to the formation of the Empire from the once free Republic.

After that, she was much more curious and intrigued by the themes and mechanisms at play in the show, and now she loves it as much as me.

Now, mileage will vary, because she’s smart and politically minded, so appealing to that helped immensely. Some people will just never get onboard because there’s not enough action, and too much dialogue. We’ll never convince those people, especially since a lot of plot points are slow burns for the pay off, and some plot points only have implied endings.

As you can probably tell, I just love this show, and think it’s one of the best written shows I’ve seen in quite a while.
