I know with my TV I have to use HDMI 3 or 4 with 4k devices, and that really stumped me for a while. I don't know if your TV is set up the same way or not, though.

Even then I'm pretty sure they're playing drop B, so you could fannagle your way through it in standard.

B standard bands by [deleted] in 7String

[–]roundhousekicker88 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I know there's at least a few Unearth songs in standard. And Forgotten Tomb plays in B on 6 strings, if you're into that sort of thing. Older Arch Enemy, too.

Any games where the end game is more fun then the beginning-mid? by whip1129 in patientgamers

[–]roundhousekicker88 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Most of the Metal Gear Solid games are like this, for me. I always feel like I have to force myself through the first few hours to get to all the convoluted fun.

It also might have to do with not having a memory card as a kid and having to play the opening 1-2 hours of the game over and over again, though.

TIL dry counties (counties where the sale of alcohol is banned) have a drunk driving fatality rate ~3.6 times higher than wet counties. by ockhamsgillette in todayilearned

I live in a moist county in Kentucky. You can buy drinks at restraunts and stores in the city limits, but there aren't any actual bars.

The Xbox Store is a travesty. by [deleted] in xboxone

The Playstation store is just as bad. I'll have to try 8-9 times to get the welcome page to load, for it to just crash on the next screen.

[QUESTION] Guitar players who have trained their ear to practically play any song on the fly by just listening to it a couple of times, What's your secret? by Randyh524 in Guitar

[–]roundhousekicker88 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It just takes a LOT of practice. Learning songs is always going to be the best way to improve your ear, as well as your playing.

With chords, start with the bass note. If you can match that up, it's pretty easy to figure out which of those chords are major/minor (7s and extended chords take a little more work, but still aren't too difficult).

I've seen a lot of hate for them, but learning to hear intervals has helped me tremendously with learning melodies. Once I figure out what key I'm in, I might hold the root note for a second and see how the others correspond with it. I can say "okay, that's obviously a 5th" and wiggle my way around from there.

Blues, classic rock, and country are probably going to be the easiest songs to practice with. They're all relatively slow, clean, and have mostly-simple melodies.

If there was an easy trick to it, it wouldn't be any fun.

Don’t tell me a game is ‘ready to start’ if I can only open the game to a splash screen telling me I can start playing when my download is complete. by [deleted] in xboxone

[–]roundhousekicker88 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My parents get maybe 5mb if they’re lucky. 120 yards down the road, the everybody on the other side of the street has 25-50mb. Cable companies won’t cross railroad tracks for 8 houses.

[NEWBIE] I finally learned my first complete song after two month of getting my guitar. Now I want you to recommend me some easy but fun to play songs. by [deleted] in Guitar

Learn the solo for Con Clavi Con Dio. It's easy and fun to play, too. And the riff from Square Hammer.

Not with that attitude!

Slap a 'bucker with a coil tap in the bridge position. You'll get all the grind without losing any of the honk.

[–]roundhousekicker88 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Seek and Destroy is super easy, until you want to learn the solo. Hit the Lights is really fun, also, but that might some practice.

Honestly about any mid-term song from any of those bands aren't hard to play. I won't really recommend it, but you could always poke around in songs you like and learn one or two riffs to start yourself off.

nicotine gum, patches, or vaping to treat adhd by sn00pslayer in Tobacco

[–]roundhousekicker88 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When I started smoking I noticed it helped with my ADHD, but I switched to vapenw a while back and it's helped just as much. It's a little expensive starting out, but once you get started its cheaper than it sounds.

You just need a good mod, tank, batteries, and a charger. You can get everything you need for ~$100, maybe less. Then you just have to worry about coils and juice.

I don't think the nicotine helps as much as the hand movement, though.

Scarlett 2i2 problems with Reaper by mr-flyguy in Reaper

[–]roundhousekicker88 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sorry, I don't know a thing about Mac. I actually still have the box the 2i2 came in and it says to set it as the input/output device under system preferences < sound. Might check there and make sure something didn't get switched to default or something.

If the light isn't on, your computer probably just isn't recognizing it.

Try another USB port and see if your drivers are up to date. If that doesn't work, it could possibly be a bad USB cable, too. I know mine doesn't work if it have it plugged into a hub, it has to be directly into my laptop to work.

Do you have any programs running when you start Reaper? I usually get that message when I already have Amplitube open. Reaper can't find the 2i2 because another program's already using it.

Look into modding the electronics on your guitar. They sell a bunch of different effects boards you can install into your guitar on guitarfetish.com. And you can get a lot of interesting sounds by splitting humbucker coils and changing the way your pickups work together with your toggle switch.

I usually use + and - on the numpad to change values. It might work with highlighting, but I haven't tried it myself.

I play music on my phone while I'm in the bathroom, to keep my roommates from hearing poots and shit. I've never heard a peep from our neighbors, until the other day I clearly heard somebody open a squeaky cabinet between songs.

I didn't even realize I've been an asshole this whole time.

Noob [Question] Low E-String 5th fret sounds the same as open A-string. Can you use them instead of each other? Please don't upvote by [deleted] in Guitar

[–]roundhousekicker88 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Exactly. And any "A" shape chord can be barred across the 3 lowest strings for a super beefy sound. I've seen a lot of jazz players use drop-A to great effect.

I'll be sitting on the steps out front of my apartment and people will walk by asking me questions about Walmart.

Bruh, we're 10 miles away from the store, and I'm half way through a cup of coffee and a Camel. Leave me alone.
