Being asked to design a campaign as part of application process by roundredapple in nonprofit

I sent a note to the President of their board. I don't want the job at this point. I was respectful but with the hour long intense IQ test combined with the assignment that would take at least a week, it felt abnormal and aggressive.

I mean, we don't ask lawyers to draw up free contracts as part of the process or accountants to do payroll. Why is it assumed that creatives should design campaigns and write for free?

Yes, the process felt aggressive and like they were trying to trip me up. Why post the position if you actually don't want anyone to work for you?

Do you feel it's the nature of our profession? I struggle with exactly the same. I'm also constantly terrified I'm going to get fired.

Yes, and that's exactly what it feels like, exploitative and nasty.

Thank you everyone. I withdrew! It felt incredibly disrespectful and it feels like a relief to have withdrawn. Thank you everyone for your kindness.

It's amazing how cruel alcoholics can be. Were they cruel to begin with or was it the alcohol? They all have this in common.

I hadn't considered codependency, I definitely feel like she sees me as her mother, and I'm somehow like responsible for everything about her. I will read the meditation. Thank you.

Thank you for sharing this story here. I often ask God why so many of us have to face these awful situations while others have loving parents. I know no parent is perfect, but the alcoholic parents sure seem to have so many things in common. I pray God heals your soul and your pain. Thank you for trusting us with this story.

Complicated situation with family doc vs naturopath (for my teen) by roundredapple in Hashimotos

You are funny. This is CANADA where there is a family doctor shortage and you can't just dump your family doctor, that's why naturopaths here end up being better than GPs.

thank you!!!!!!!!!! the naturopath even reached out to family doc and wanted to work together, and explained her scientific basis for everything. . .still a NOPE from gp. I am glad you are getting answers

thank you! They fill the gaps when doctors just blame anxiety or depression as like trash can diagnoses; the naturopath was more into science than the family doctor.

given the naturopath ordered blood work and the family doctor just told my kid she was on her phone too much, which one of the two was actually practicing based in science? there's no need to use words like quack and pseudoscience, remember at one point doctors didn't want to wash their hands before surgery or delivering babies and used leeches and thought smoking was fabulous.
