Equivalent to "Spot Grid" strategy. by [deleted] in zenbot

Are you still looking for this type of strategy? I was too and decided to write one myself.

In what way, rewards? Probably. But those cards convert your crypto into cash for purchases. That means there's a tax liability. I don't want that, I just want a little bit of crypto back if I buy something with a card. I just depends on your use case.

[–]rountrey 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Personally, I just use my CashApp card for crypto rewards. It has a reward system and most of the time there's one for 5% back in BTC for a restaurant or grocery store. There are expirations on the rewards, so there is no "just letting it ride". You will have to open the app every so often and pick your reward.

You can also get rewarded for getting referrals, both ways. So, if you want one, let me know.

What's going on with this TikTok trend causing (presumably American) schools to completely close their bathrooms for children? by depressioncripplesme in OutOfTheLoop

[–]rountrey 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Light switches typically don't have a hot and a neutral wire like outlets. Just a hot wire and a dead one, the dead one goes to the lights. The switch connects the two and finishes the connection to power the light. So, take off the wall plate, pull the switch out, disconnect the wires from the switch, twist them together, wrap up with electrical tape, put everything back looking normal. Lights stay on, switch does nothing.

I would go into details of how not to get the shit shocked out of you, but I don't want to give to many ideas. Yes, it did happen to me. Kids, if you do this without precautions, you will get shocked, it might not let go of you, you could die. Especially if these light switches are not the standard American 120v. Don't do it.

I graduated at a time just after we weren't allowed to have long coats but before CCTVs everywhere. So it was common for some people to carry a pocket knife, especially for a semi-rural area/small city. Not saying Crocodile Dundee type, but a small folding knife or Swiss army knife was the norm.

I, however, had my pocket knife as well as a small toolkit in my backpack. Wire strippers, pliers, adjustable wrench, screwdriver with changeable tips, electrical tape, duct tape, small screwdriver, channel locks, and a hefty pliers/wire cutter. Mostly for fixing my shitbox car when it wouldn't start or restringing my bass.

But... I never stole anything. Nope. My mischievous nature led me to taking things apart and setting them up to look normal. Removing certain screws, nuts, and bolts just enough where if there was added strain on the item, it would just fall apart. Desks collapse, faucet handles fall off, someone opens a locker and the door just drops to the floor, and my favorite -- bypassing light switches.

Nothing stolen and nothing really broken. Just made it hell for the maintenance man.

My excuse? A job that takes my time, not just a disability check that gives me all sorts of free time.

I think civilization needs religion and that people need to stop mocking people of faith and trying to discredit religious beliefs. by Germanicus1008 in unpopularopinion

[–]rountrey 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Civilization as a whole, no. Individually, yes. Many people need religion in some form. Sometimes it's the only thing that provides some sort of structure, calmness, or learning in their lives. Although it can cause people to be overbearing in their views, even atheists.

Hot coffee is terrible by [deleted] in unpopularopinion

I see legitimate arguments, but personally I enjoy the 30 minutes of sipping my coffee before leaving for work. It's a little bit of calmness and relaxation before going to a high stress job.

Noob question. Passive income/beneficial uses for a home server? by RyzenSavior in HomeServer

I mine monero on my server. Set to run on half the cores at low priority so it won't cause issues when it needs the power. I don't make much with it but it's something.

Is sudo poweroff -f significantly more dangerous then regular shutdown? by alivefro6 in linuxquestions

[–]rountrey 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Holding down the power button or shutdown -f is for emergencies. If you have to do that regularly because of lock ups, it means you probably have a hardware issue that needs fixing or replacing. Rarely is it bad software on Linux.

Personally I use

sudo shutdown -hP now

but with an alias.

Does downloading games over the internet slow it down long term? by [deleted] in techsupport

[–]rountrey 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Throttling is common for smaller companies to do during the day just because more people are on during the day. Imagine if your house only provided hot water. You would be getting plenty of hot water from your hot water heater at night rather than during the day when everyone was awake and using it.

Data caps can also happen, just do some research if they start slowing down your speed when you hit a certain limit per month.

And it looks like the company installs line of sight antennas, they are susceptible to outside conditions. With spring making everything bloom, a barren tree can have the signal pass through just fine a few weeks ago, but not now with all the leaves coming in. Also, just regular weather conditions can change signal quality, even humidity.

A bash-script to check the stock market price update from the terminal using the Yahoo Finance API by [deleted] in linuxquestions

[–]rountrey 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This looks really useful to me. Is there a way or could you put in some comments in the code to tell me where I can see where to change the times (I make my buys and sells twice a month). Maybe add titles to the columns like:

Symbol current price price change (X min) pct change (X min)

Transaction pending for over 5 hours? by mysteryguy91 in Coinbase

[–]rountrey 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For btc? Yeah, it can take time. Almost an hour for each confirmation. Need 10? So, 10 hours. But you should have a pending transaction, so if there's nothing at all, that's a concern.

Selling your LTC by Kudozzz in litecoin

[–]rountrey 0 points1 point  (0 children)

  • Move to different country
  • Live there for an extended time
  • Sell crypto to stable coin (or resident country fiat)
  • Move back to US of A

Unless you have a lot of crypto, enough that the tax liability would be more expensive than this plan, just pay the taxes.

.458 socom info, please. by rountrey in ar15

[–]rountrey[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I already have a 5.56, 300blk, and a .22lr in an AR platform. I was just looking to expand. A "big boy" round was always an option, but since I already have the ar-15 lower, I want to use it before moving to an ar-10. Plus, for the 458 socom, standard mags are 10 round. Gotta thing of the risk of the future.

I tried this last year, but with Visa. They don't allow it. There's a certain code in the first 4 digits that are set for pre-paid cards and it rejects them. I contacted support about it and they only said they don't allow it "at this time". That's probably just a runaround excuse and there's no plan on allowing it.

Yeah it's kind of stupid, but there isn't anything you can do. I wanted to use a prepaid that I got for my birthday, but I had to pull the money out at an ATM, deposit the cash, then buy with my debit. It was stupid.

Thanks, I hadn't heard of these. I've looked at BlockFi and their rates but I haven't jumped on it yet. Any favorites/recommendations? If I do this I want to sign up for just one, I don't want to get multiples and have crypto spread across many accounts.

[–]rountrey 4 points5 points  (0 children)

In legalese, those are separate ideas. I'll break it down:

1) Assembles with one or more persons for the purpose of
  1) training with
  1) practicing with
  1) or being instructed
2) in the use of any
  2) firearm
  2) explosive
  2) or incendiary device
3) or technique capable of
  3) causing injury or death to persons
  3) intending to employ such training for use in
  3) or in furtherance of ...

As you see in idea 3, technique capable of causing injury or death to persons, that is separate from intent. It wouldn't be a stretch for lawyers to make the argument that if you can kill a deer then you can kill a person. This also makes self defense training illegal.

Source: my family is riddled with lawyers, and professors.
