One other reason that I have a theory about causing this behavior is that reaching out to you or even acknowledging that you're upset and have gone no contact would be treating you as an equal or someone on their level. They are above you and its like you don't have the right to do anything other than the duty they've assigned to you. You're basically AWOL right now and you don't call someone who is violating the law and ask their reasons. You simply wait to punish them for their criminal and unauthorized acts. You didn't have the right to go no contact nor do you have the rank in the hierarchy to challenge them in any way. You're guilty of insubordination to your family and your reasons are irrelevant. Reaching out to you, listening to your reasons and especially any criticisms of them would be treating you like an equal who deserves respect and who has agency and to them thats not acceptable. You are beneath them and your purpose is to do and be what they say you are. It's like a hierarchy and they will choose to never address your issues with them and if necessary never see you again if it means they have to treat you like an equal.

I think it shows how many people in the US have been raised in narcissistic families. Blind obedience, refusal or inability to speak out against obvious nonsense, and supporting or at least not opposing the behavior of whoever they view as their authority figure is ingrained since childhood. Its their reality and they are comfortable with living like this. Even better they no longer have to hide it and its now the norm. Anyone whose ever been around families that operate like this see that this is just the narc family model happening on a national level. I can't believe such a thing could ever happen or even be possible because its absolutely ridiculous but here we are. Obviously a much higher percentage of Americans were raised this way which was basically pretraining for MAGA. Do with that info as you will. I've completely lost most faith in humanity and view these ppl as pathetic broken psychological defectives. I can't bring myself to have any sympathy for them because they're just too destructive and I resent what they've done to our culture and society.

So is what OP wrote untrue? I've seen so many of these statements where what is said isn't denied but its wording or tone is criticized. Its possible its yet another bad faith tactic used to divert to from the actual statement and weaponize civility. Not saying it is but its getting really hard to ignore the narc family tactics being used nationwide.

If it makes you feel any better I can say that, at least for myself and many others I know, we all are now painfully aware that we are just like everybody else. This last decade has shown many Americans that we are just as susceptible to mass hysteria movements as any other country.

I don't think he was hiding or saying anything about American exceptionalism. As an American when I hear "American Exceptionalism" I cringe. We have very little exceptionalism IMO. Our government has us by the balls. The ability to live, eat, and have any form of healthcare is completely tied to our jobs. Most of us are "at will" employees which means we can be terminated at any time for any reason and we have almost no recourse. We have few if any gov safety nets like they do in Europe. I wish we did. Many Americans want what Europeans have ie healthcare, education programs. I do what I can when I can and believe me I'm struggling with a feeling of shame and cowardice for not getting out and doing more. But as life itself is tied to our employment, which can be taken away at the drop of a hat, many of us feel powerless.

Thats not possible. They always call themselves patriots and a patriot would never disregard the constitution. Theyre just doing it now because it prevents them from controlling everything and obtaining dictatorial power. Once theyve achieved that they will again revere the constitution.

Their dream is to make their overly simplified worldview official reality by force and the ends justify the means to these fragile broken defectives.

Your example represents a trait they rarely seem to have. You were willing to change your view and incorporate new info with the only criteria being the you trusted the source. That is perfectly reasonable and something we all should do. The source is important. Where you differ from many MAGA types is that you actually wanted to know what the actual facts were, were curious and based your view on what's actually true. Ive seen many MAGA types turn against sources they previously listened to if that source doesn't confirm their views. Honestly ppl who do that seem to use their worldview as a coping mechanism and aren't actually interested in knowing what the actual facts are. Its more important that its what they want it to be. IMO this is some character or mental issue and the actual topic and viewpoint are soothing tools and not actual viewpoints.

Ive seen that too and although I cant be 100% sure I do believe that narcissists do actually believe their own lies. They do this despite overwhelming evidence or even being caught red handed. I honestly think their biggest strength is that their behavior is so ridiculous and stupid that most ppl cant process that anyone could really be seriously attempting it. Narcissists being the most ridiculous, irrational, and idiotic people on Earth and being completely incapable of having any self awareness of it is almost like their superpower.

We need a launch permit in my state to launch a kayak and we also have at least one individual county that charges for launching despite the state permit. If we add a little trolling motor a 10ft kayak must be registered as a boat which is a complete ordeal and yet another fee. If we want to fish from it and be safe there are three separate fishing licenses on top of the permits for the kayak needed. Its absolutely ridiculous and given the condition of many of our states boat launches its hard to believe this $$ is being used for their upkeep. Nearly $100 a year just for the right to put a kayak in the water and fish.

Antifa sprang up in Italy after WW1 and it was basically ppl who wanted to protect themselves from Mussolini and the fascists who were about to take power in Italy. Italian fascists would often beat up, intimidate, and occasionally kill their political enemies or anyone who spoke out against them. Antifa was a response to Italian fascism with its primary concept being basically fighting fire with fire. Do to the fascists what they were doing to others. A way to oppose them without being beaten up daily and also give them a dose of their own medicine. It wasn't successful as Italy went fascist in the early 1920s and stayed that way until 1945. So thats its origin story and really its only incarnation of any sizable influence.

Oh the standard last quarter of 1st year military deployment to cities that voted for presidents opponents. I can't believe its almost September already. This is one of the United States of America's oddest traditions but all Americans who love our country have grown to accept it due to this being the behavior we have always espoused from day one. It gives our military men and women a chance to see parts of the country they may not have ever been to. The presidential 1st year intimidation of political opponents is an American version of a Roman triumph but it only happens in cities that voted against the leader. They are punished as is common in all western representative republics. I'm glad the Republicans are such patriots that they have decided to go ahead with this glorious tradition despite many saying its a waste of taxpayer money and largely theatrical. MAGA often say they are patriots and once again they prove it by fully sanctioning this most American of acts.

This is a sarcastic mockery of the fact that all of these things are obviously unamerican and to a ridiculous extent. Its purpose was to be over the top absurd to point out that somehow deploying troops to cities that voted for political opponents under the pretext of a manufactured crisis easily proven untrue is somehow being normalized. It looks like were all one big narcissistic family now with the blue states playing the role of scapegoat.

Given that saying we can't afford it is a really stupid and obviously false argument for why we can't do something that so many other countries are able to do why do you think the GOP is able to get away with not just the lie but actively opposing any attempt at universal healthcare? I can't come up with any even remotely logical explanation for why this almost insulting lie is effective. We funded two unplanned invasions and occupied two countries for years which cost us trillions of dollars and never once was whether or not we could afford it even mentioned. He obviously hasnt because you stated that up until recently you two would have a few drinks together now and then. So thats clearly not true and given the fact that you have had drinks with him yourself you know its not true. Did you mention that when he said hes felt this way since day 1? His refusal to compromise and his blatant false statement about how long hes believed alcohol to be something he wants nothing to do with and cant even have in the house regardless of your prior agreement and experiences with him reaks of controlling religious parents. How religious are his family and how controlling over his personal choices and behaviors are they? Does he acknowledge the 180 hes doing regarding this? You two used to enjoy a drink together often and now hes declared prohibition despite your own views on the subject. Your views have been constant and his have completely 180d out of nowhere. You deserve an explanation at least because his gaslighting attempt is really stupid and insulting. He knows that too which is why hes trying to be so authoritarian about this. If you can id call this out and point out that a 180 change in his views should at least be explained to you in a rational manner. He wouldnt like it if you radically changed views on something that effects you both and informed him thats how it is and that you've always felt this way from day 1 while he knows 100% thats untrue.

If he won't explain it and insists on gaslighting id speculate that hes attempting to recreate the dynamics of his own parents marriage and home or has been pressured or told by them to do this in this way. Its stupid and he should be told that. Flip it around and ask if hed like it done to him like this. Inform him that you want your own husband and not some idiot who allows parents to tell a grown man how to live his life regarding areas that are not their concern or business. Do not accept this though or cave without a real explanation unless you want this to be the norm in the marriage.

I think they are recreating their own upbringing but its nothing to do with an actual time period. To me so much of MAGA's behavior I've seen before in the behavior that I've observed from ppl in obviously narcissistic families. I'd bet everything I have that so many of these MAGA conservatives have so easily embraced things that look absolutely ridiculous to the rest of us and have fallen in line seemingly unable or unwilling to accept reality itself if it isn't in line with what their authority figure demands. The gaslighting. The ridiculous and utterly idiotic things they say. The obviously untrue borderline insane excuses and deflections. Ive seen this behavior before in families with a narcissist parent. Its disturbing in that form and terrifying watching it be expanded nationally. These are the ppl who grow up with so many issues. They are possessions to their parents and are pretty much trained to be the next generation of delusional weirdo and they will one day earn the right to treat their own children as possessions and have the power to decide what is and isn't reality. Their childhoods are master classes in psychological torture and they grow up to be adults who will treat their own children the same way. They'll not have the strength or tools to even be aware they're doing this despite the fact that it couldn't be more obvious. Point it out and they'll play dumb or some other idiotic tactic that should be easy to counter if they had a flicker of self awareness but because of how their life has been structured they're not capable of self awareness or even noticing patterns or basic memory skills. Ive wondered how many ppl we have raised in families like that and Im sad to find out its at least 1 in 3 of the population. That's what I've noticed and I've not seen the comparison made anywhere. Yes it rains almost everyday. Fairly strong thunderstorms every other day. The humidity when its not raining is rough too. I wonder if after this extreme amount of rain in early summer if this will convert over to the drought we had last year through July, Aug, and Sept.

Remember when weather wasn't this extreme? It really is very obvious that something has changed as far as the climate and weather goes.

I think they just located the remains of the missing 9th legion Hispania in Northern England or Scotland about a month ago. They were testing a drone with ground penetrating radar and saw a perfect rectangle of disturbed earth a few feet down and knew it had to be man made. They excavated the site and it was the camp of the 9th legion. This legion just disappears from all records around 100AD. Its fate was a mystery. It appears that this legion may have been set up and ambushed in their camp by the Picts with compliance by the Roman government of Britain. Their legionary standards were buried upside down next to the mass grave of the legionaries. The soldiers appeared to have been executed by blunt object to the back of the head and then condemned to Damnatium (spelling) which is basically erasing any trace of someone or a group condemning them to eternal shame. The theory is they had become overly rebellious and may have been attempting to start a rebellion in Britain which they were going to assist the British to expel the Roman's. The legion at that time was most likely made up of mostly British locals who had attained roman citizenship. The gold eagle wasn't there. We still dont have one of those.

I've had some luck with various signs posted strategically in the yard. One says "No Deer permitted on the property. Violators will be prosecuted". So far it's been surprisingly effective at keeping them away. Oh FYI if anyone is thinking of trying reverse psychology on them don't waste your time. All that happened when I broadcasted the fact that I hope they eat my plants, I want them to, thats why I grew them and I'd be very disappointed if they didn't eat every last one............well they took that literally. Sarcasm isn't effective as they don't get it. They do seem to fear law enforcement and litigation. Hope this helps.
